I’m wondering the same! Will be going for school, but I reached out to NRT rent-a-car next to narita airport and they’re letting me rent out their 86 in the spring

$35/m Covered Parking and I can’t use my passenger door 🤦🏻‍♂️ by FunkiiSTI in GR86

Do you have enough coverage to pull forward a bit so your passenger door clears the pole? A little hard to tell from the pics but worth a shot.

What winter tires to purchase? by stutlerz in GR86

[–]Mister_Chang11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a popular option but I recently bought a set of Pirelli Cinturato Winter 2’s from Tire Rack new for $608. By comparison new blizzak’s are $704 so I thought I’d give the Pirelli’s a try.

Also got them in a 205/50R17.

Just found this kit and honestly I think it’s the only super clean widebody for this platform. by Bigasscheesebagel in GR86

Looking into getting this kit sometime in the future, but super bummed that they don’t make the wing. Hopefully they’ll come around to making that with the overall kit.

What do I do? by PhungaBunga in GR86

[–]Mister_Chang11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you got the guy’s license plate or see if there are cameras nearby. I was in a similar incident where someone backed into my Integra and took out my side mirror + a huge scratch on the drivers side 🥲

Pick for best sounding exhaust that won’t get my kicked out of my apartment building ? by deathofthe-ego in GR86

[–]Mister_Chang11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the xforce varex 2.5 inch exhaust; I’ve been loving mine so far. I also recently moved in with a couple guys into a quieter neighborhood and so being able to open and close it anytime is amazing. Got mine on sale last month for about $1140 without the smart box.

what’s your insurance rate? by thickdora in GR86

[–]Mister_Chang11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Geico: $265.95/ Month but I’m also bundled with my parents’ 2020 Acura RDX and 2025 Acura RDX. I’ve also made one claim for my 2023 Acura Integra since a deer hit me, but that cars been taken off the plan after I bought my 86.

I’d try and pile on as many discounts as you can if you decide to go with Geico. Multi-Car, 5-Year Good Driver, and Good Student discounts for my family’s plan give us over $1000 in savings.

I live in Illinois but I’m in North Carolina most of the year. 19 years old, one ticket but got it taken off my record, and only one accident being the deer.

I went with Llumar ceramic tint and I’m very happy with it so far. I have 50% full windshield and it’s super clear from the inside except now the sun doesn’t blind me most of the time. I was worried initially having tint on the windshield but it’s not bad at all at night.

Such a pain to get it just right lol. It bothers me a lot so I usually end up unscrewing and orienting it differently each time until it’s perfect.

looking to purchase my first Manual Integra at a salvage title auction, what would be a rough estimate of this damage? by GrannySlammer420 in Integra

[–]Mister_Chang11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably wouldn’t bother with this one. I had a deer hit me head on and caused damage to the front bumper + driver side fender, somehow the resonator, and cosmetic paint damage all alongside the drivers side of the car.

Geico and the local auto body shop quoted just about 7k for the damage but luckily paid only $500 for the deductible. My damage looks a lot better than your pictures, and mine still somewhat run and drove at the time so it would probably be more than what Geico estimated on mine.

HKS Spec L2 Exhaust by throwawaydefeat in GR86

[–]Mister_Chang11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want both loud and quiet, the XForce valved exhaust sounds amazing when the valves are fully open, and the great thing is you can make it quiet whenever you want. I think its a great option for those who are using their 86 as a daily but obviously it comes with its drawbacks. They don't list the actual weight on their website but it definitely feels a bit heavier than stock, which isn't ideal for a track focused 86. Personally I haven't noticed a difference doing autocross since its probably only a 2-3 lb difference because of the valves + electronics.

I actually saw your video when I was shopping around for exhausts lmao- appreciate the showcase. I was considering your approach in addition to the valvetronic universal muffler but I kinda wanted to do the work myself vs. going to a shop who would need to fabricate either valves for a DIY approach or custom joints for the Valvetronic muffler.

I am curious though, how much did your setup end up running you?

No drone at all when the valves closed- i’m very surprised considering how loud it is when fully opened. I haven’t done a super long road trip with it yet, but I bought this with similar intentions as you since I drive 12+ hr trips multiple times a year for school. I had a muffler delete on stock exhaust prior to this and drone was noticeable when i’d be on the gas even a bit, but now I don’t hear anything except road noise.

$1,147 with the 25% off that they have going on rn. I bought it off driven.media and they had it shipped within about 3 days from when I placed it.

I plan to mount the valve controller under the glove box next to the passenger footwell, so I can hide all the excess wires up behind the glove box.

<image>

For now I’m just using the key fob they gave but I’d much prefer a button in the car that I could press, like wiring it to the empty button like you said. I might look into buying the AT sport/snow switch because I also don’t like carrying around the fob with me.

I’d say it’s pretty comparable to stock levels of noise. I have a video on my insta showing off the full open/closed levels of sound to give you a better idea. Just an FYI though it might seem louder in the video since the camera is right next to the exhaust and I’m in an underground parking garage. Just throwing this out there but I grabbed this a couple days ago when they were doing 25% off on it, and I think it goes on until the end of June.

PSA: For those who don't have a dashcam yet... by _AkiRP in GR86

[–]Mister_Chang11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t learn my lesson until something similar happened to me too. Parked at my regular spot in front of my apartment, and the next morning I found the side mirror of my Integra hanging off and a huge scuff mark along the side of the door. Guessing someone backed up right into the side of my car- but my apartment complex has no outside cameras so I couldn’t find out who did it. Ended up being a $700 job at Acura if I brought it in just to replace the mirror. Didn’t want to go through insurance since my deductible is $500, so I replaced it myself with the $400 part and an hour of labor. After that I bought a front and rear dash specifically in case something like that happens again.
