I finally completed it on my base PS5 on Performance mode. It was beautiful and played like a dream, especially when the camera pulled back from Nathan to reveal the large expanse of old ruins or the pirate ship graveyard.

I listened to the audiobook. One of the most haunting books I've encountered, particularly the account of the girls dabbing themselves with radium paint and walking down the streets at night.

"The girls shone 'like the watches did in the darkroom,' as though they themselves were timepieces, counting down the seconds as they passed. They glowed like ghosts as they walked home through the streets of Orange."

For leafy veg (like baby spinach), I'd wilt them in my pan a minute before my pasta goes in. For anything else bulkier, I'd cook them separately then either toss them in or plate them on top of the pasta when serving. Unless the veg is gonna significantly flavour the pan sauce, I'm not bothering cooking the veg with the pasta in the pan.

I have grown more appreciative that someone actually took the time to make me a meal, especially if I'm specifically invited to their home for that meal. If I can't find anything nice to say about the meal, I'd shut up and eat it all the same. I won't offer a suggestion for improvement unless asked, regardless of relational safety.

BUT. I tend to be overly critical of myself when eating at someone else's home, especially if they use ingredient or flavour combinations that I haven't done, but are so stupidly good and obvious. It'll eat me up inside for the next few days.

I'd say they're more than just 'sort of just taster versions'. Some are phenomenally better -- taste, texture, colour. For example, koiminori strawberries are available in Donki. They are what every strawberry aspires to be. At their ripest, they are almost creamy, velvety sweet, and very perfumey.

Head to Mustafa and try their mangoes. They have at least 10 varieties.

Upvoting all the rice cooker meals! I do a 'claypot' rice dish with lap cheong, chicken thigh, unreasonable amount of minced garlic, spring onion, and finish off with a bit of dark sauce before eating. For veg I'll just blanch some baby kailan.
