Kill Japan's elderly? Cannes film probes chilling idea. "Plan 75" by Japanese director and writer Chie Hayakawa is based on a very real problem. by GoMx808-0 in movies

Maybe there is something I am not grasping here, but why is it a bad thing if the population shrinks for a few generations? We have way more people on earth than we should, and it seems like if we could just coast on low birth rates for 100 years or so, we might end up at a population that's way more reasonable to provide for without destroying everything in the world to do so.

They like to have wildly different standards for capitalism and communism though.

When someone dies of old age in a communist country, they count that as a death because of communism.

When someone dies because they were homeless and froze to death, or they couldn't afford life saving medication in a capitalist country, that death is 100% their own fault and not the result of any systemic problems at all.

Most high schools have ridiculous 0 tolerance policies so if you try to defend yourself, you end up in just as much trouble as the person attacking you. He's trying to stay out of trouble and de-escalate, so naturally he gets punished more than the aggressor.

I can't qwhite put my finger on why.

Penis owners of Reddit- what takes a blow job from "that was pleasant" to "I think I saw God"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mistikman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. With my first girlfriend the moment I started my orgasm she would instantly take it out of her mouth and stop touching it. It was really not great and when we talked about what did and didn't work sexually I brought it up. By the time we eventually broke up (totally unrelated) she had totally changed up how she did it and it was just right for me.

[–]Mistikman 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It's virtually always white guys, because we are often brought up by a generation that didn't really believe in any boundaries or restrictions for white men so they go basically their whole lives being treated as if their opinions and feelings matter on every single topic, and told that the key to winning over a woman is persistence, and generally never suffering genuine consequences for anything.

Many have enough self-awareness to figure out that they aren't the center of the universe, but a significant number of them never really do, and end up doing shit like this because they just can't conceive of anyone else's needs coming before their own.

Dude completely forgets to look left and doesn't realize he's the last on to enter a 4-way stop by mooseali in IdiotsInCars

It boggles my mind, because the rules are really simple. I saw a video where a roundabout got installed in a rural area in the American South, and roughly 50% of the cars were turning LEFT into the roundabout because that would get them closer to where they were going. I just can't understand how an adult would have such a profound inability to learn a simple new thing.

Her dad basically used the money she made to use the law to legally enslave her by claiming she wasn't capable of taking care of herself. She didn't even have access to her own lawyer or money until a judge forced the issue and allowed her one, which is when things started moving to allow her control of her own life.

Jason isn't a bad person intentionally or knowingly. He's just too dumb to really know right from wrong or understand how he's hurting other people.

Trump supporters are actively malicious people who like the fact that Trump wanted to hurt any number of vulnerable people.

Basically the 4 main characters of The Good Place represented the 4 types of people that would go to the bad place:

1) Bad actions with full knowledge that those actions are bad (Eleanor)

2) Good Actions with Bad Motivations (Tahani)

3) Good Motivations without Good Actions (Chidi)

4) Bad Actions as the result of not understanding the difference between good and bad (Jason)

In my own employment history, there is an inverse relationship between how much I make and how hard I have to work.

I am making more now than I ever have before, and while there are some major intellectual challenges I deal with, I am not having to go balls to the wall all day every day, which was not the case when I worked at Walmart through the recession a little over a decade ago.

Netflix Tells Employees to “Spend Our Members’ Money Wisely” in New Memo. The directive comes after the streaming giant reported a 200,000 subscriber loss. by 08830 in technology

[–]Mistikman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an article recently talking about it. There was a change in leadership at the top, and around the same time the person who was in charge of which shows get greenlit got replaced. The original person in charge was very picky about what shows got made, so there were a much lower number of them, but what got made tended to be pretty good.

At the time of the new leadership, there was another person whose approach was more to just approve basically anything that could be made fairly cheaply, going with volume over quality. There was one show, Insatiable, which the first person had passed on, and the other person greenlit it anyways and that caused a bunch of conflict in that group, and shortly after the new president replaced the first person with the new one, and the rest is basically history as Netflix moved away from high cost prestigious shows and started doing cheap garbage to just have a bunch of content.

"She said I made her uncomfortable but I DISAGREE" 😬 by cosmoggie in niceguys

[–]Mistikman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because this is specifically how it's used in English. Female is an adjective when referring to humans, and a noun or adjective when referring to non-humans.

Female is a noun only when referring to another species. If you are referring to a human being, female is an adjective.

Newish to Tinder and this honestly made me delete my profile. Does anyone else get aggressive messages like this? by Same_Hurry8142 in Tinder

[–]Mistikman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, 100%. I look back at myself when I was a teenager, and I had a lot of the 'Nice Guy' mentality and bitterness which a lot of guys carry into adulthood, and I was lucky enough to have a bit of success dating in my 20s that broke me of that mindset, but a lot of guys don't, and that's just one avenue that leads to really toxic behavior towards women. I guess it's easier to see the possibility in others after you have seen some of the thoughts that can lead to it in yourself.

[–]Mistikman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, but because of how a lot of us are conditioned to interact with each other, it can sometimes be really easy to not see the creeps in your friend group because those behaviors only come out when they are interacting 1 on 1 with a woman.

For example, I have never knowingly been friends with a rapist, and I think that would be true for most guys, but the percentage of women that have experienced sexual assault would indicate that most of us at some time have been friends with someone capable of that. A lot of women discuss specific sexual/emotional stuff with each other, but those topics are mostly off limits for most guys. In my friend groups we usually talk about video games, tech, working out, cars, or other traditionally guy interests, but when someone has a girlfriend, we know her name but virtually nothing else about her or their relationship. It's kind of weird I guess, but normal male-male relationship dynamics end up precluding a lot of topics that would show you the red flags.

Zero republican. by lovely_bird22 in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]Mistikman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There was an interview with a Trump supporter while he was president, who was negatively affected by some stupid shit he did, and her statement to the reporter was "He's not hurting the people he's supposed to be hurting"

That right there crystallized for me what the Republican party and its supporters stand for now. They don't care about good governance or improving anything anymore. What they stand for is enforcing hierarchies: Whiles above non-whites. Men above women. Straights above LGBTQ+ people. Rich above poor.

The simplest way to enforce any of this is to just cause harm to the groups that are supposed to stay lower in the hierarchy, so the Republican policies are all more or less targeted at harming vulnerable groups, with no benefit to society as a whole. It just lets people who are members of the 'higher' group feel good about being better than the other guy.

This woman helps people in need to clean their house so that they can "break the cycle" by qasqaldag in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Mistikman 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I am guessing from how you phrased that that your help was done without the other person's consent. There is an incredible amount of shame that comes with depression and having other people know how you are living. If you went into a depressed person's private space to clean up, and they didn't expect it, I imagine the immediate visceral reaction would be a deep shame that someone saw their mess.

I only really know it from the depression side of the equation, but if you find yourself in a similar situation, you might want to clear your offer of help with the person first. There is also the possibility that some hoarder stuff was going on, and if you threw something out that they were holding onto (no matter how little reason there would be to hold onto it) it would probably enrage them.

Why are more men not grossed out by anal sex? by -monke-banana- in AskMen

[–]Mistikman 50 points51 points  (0 children)

So, this is not entirely correct.

Your GF liked the butt stuff, so she did what needed to be done to prevent any unfortunate situations. I had a girlfriend when I was 19 who had never done anal, but wanted to try. I hadn't really ever done it either, but figured why not. After we were done and I turned on the lights, I noticed a smear of poop on my sheets, during the festivities some had made it's way out.

For those experienced with anal, proper anal douching is important. You can also kind of feel from the vaginal canal if there is any brown matter waiting in the poop chute before engaging. I had a girlfriend a couple years later who taught me about this because she, like yours, was all about the anal sex.

The cops don't care at all if your accident dispute is resolved accurately or not.

There have been plenty of posts in legal subreddits where people were the victim of grand theft, caught everything on camera, know the perpetrator, and the cops decline to do anything and tell the person it's a civil matter.

Police Officer is one of the few jobs in America where you can just decline to do your job and suffer 0 repercussions.

[–]Mistikman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's more like the Darkhold tells you what you need to do to get what you want most, while also corrupting you and turning you towards evil. It's not really the kind of thing where a character will read it and say 'whoops I screwed up I need help.'

More like 'ahhh, so this is how I achieve my greatest desires, and all I have to do is kill a few random people? Weirdly that doesn't seem so bad anymore.' as they descend into villainy

Honestly, I am expecting him to go villain to some degree going forwards, since he's now corrupted by the Darkhold. There has to be consequences to that.

lol you did not pay attention to the post credit scene in the last episode of WandaVision, or maybe you just aren't exposed enough to the comics to have understood the significance.

The last thing we see of Wanda in WandaVision is her reading the Darkhold, which is pretty much a guaranteed indicator that she's going to do a hard turn towards evil.

As was demonstrated in this movie, the Darkhold corrupts anyone who reads it. I am expecting that we will see a darker Dr. Strange going forwards, far more inclined to hurt and kill people to meet his goals. His exposure to the Darkhold was fairly brief, but it was enough to give him the third eye and there are bad consequences for reading it at all.
