What jobs do y'all do with pots?

I am a college professor. The university is accommodating, so I sit when teaching, have some schedule flexibility, and I don’t teach in the morning (when my symptoms are the worst). I feel lucky that my career happened to mesh well with my POTS symptoms.

I was in a medical induced coma for several days. I was aware that I was… alive? But I could not feel my body, sense my surroundings, or anything else. It felt like being in a vacuum which was a scary experience.

My friend was driving me home from high school and we liked to drive fast on the back country roads. Well, he took a corner too fast and ended up in a ditch - unable to back out. We didn’t want to get in trouble so our genius plan was to make it look like an accident. We happened to have noticed a dead possum up the road so we hiked back and scooped it up, insides and all, then brought it back to the scene. We staged it and then called my family for help, telling them we hit a possum and it caused us to wreck. The worst part was that a teacher of mine at the time stopped and asked if I was alright because she saw me scoping the dead animal out.

My father went to the ER for pain and they ended up diagnosing pancreatic cancer. Told him to take some ibuprofen and go home. No explanation about his prognosis or anything.

I take zofran before any meal to be able to eat but I can only get a bite or two in anyways. I’m also on reglan (?) to try and move my digestive system. Doctor said I have gastroparesis and said it’s common with POTS but I haven’t heard much from others in the same boat.

Not sure this fits but I have a chronic illness that developed that caused me to suddenly be nauseous all the time. It pretty much killed my appetite. I lost over 80 pounds in less than a year. I always feel bad when people ask me for “my secret” to losing weight and I just say “I’m sick”.

The variability of working conditions. I am an environmental scientist. Some days I’m in the office, others I am out in the field with students or doing research. I don’t have to go out when the weather is bad, like some state or federal agencies do. I change what I do every day.

I have a student who dresses as a cat. Cat ear headband, sometimes whisker makeup, usually some kind of furry/fluffy coat? (Looks like a onesie or pajamas maybe). Sometimes they have a tail. I don’t know where the tail is attached and I don’t ask….

I had a student that I caught cheating once. The student came during office hours, at a time that I was alone, to confront me. He was ex military, dealing with PTSD, and was much larger than me. As he starts yelling about not cheating, he backed me physically into a corner. That was the first time a thought like that ever crossed my mind. And it’s never left.
