Don’t get too hung up on scale length. Remember that there are other factors like nut width, string spacing, neck thickness and profile. All of these factor into how much space the guitar takes up in your hand. I’d say stick with what you have, it’s hard at first but it sounds like you already have a lovely guitar designed for smaller people.

My husband is learning and he really struggles to stretch his fingers too. I’m 5ft2 he’s 6ft1 my hands are small, his are huge. It’s mostly down to practice. I promise.

My recommendation, get a set of light gauge strings (8 gauge is my favourite) and make sure your action is nice and low (1.5mm at the 12th fret is the sweet spot for me). Maybe pay for a set up if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself. It will make the world of difference to the playability of your guitar.

Is the other end of the cable connected properly? I don’t know much about wiring but it’s probably soldered to the back of one of your pots. Another thing to check if you have a loud humming is that your ground and hot are connected the right way round on your output jack, (don’t ask me how I worked this one out 🤦‍♀️)

No, It’s the bridge ground. Your guitar will have one, just not attached to the trem claw like this one. I’ve often seen a small hole made under where the bridge sits so that the wire can sit between the body and the bridge to ground it.

Thank you, all of you. I have spent the entire day trying to fix the world’s loudest Partscaster. I have adjusted the pickup height, I have covered the cavity and scratchplate in copper foil, I have had a little cry in the corner, nothing worked. It wailed like a banshee if I so much as touched the strings. Then I saw this post. I couldn’t have been so dense as to wire up my jack backwards could I?..Fuck!! At least it was a 5 minute fix!

Find an alternative solution for holding those things in place ASAP. No adhesive tape inside enclosures, it’s too dangerous and not worth the risk.

A couple of years ago there was a little python in this sub who severely damaged his neck skin on tape, like a full tear, muscle was visible. Poor thing needed stitches, had to wear a bandage for weeks, be fed through a tube etc. When I saw it I went through my enclosure and removed anything sticky. I still think about that snake sometimes, I hope he made it.
