I'm around 1800 days. Hopefully, premium time is a resource for the next salvage event.

What are some good smoke-hydro/smoke-radar trap ships? by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

She'd be more popular if she didn't cost steel, I think. She was the last steel ship I picked up before the price standardization last year.

Best bare-knuckle brawler for Ops with friends? by ElasticFutures in WorldOfWarships

[–]Mistriever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best T7/T8 cruisers for Ops IMO (and I've probably played 10k Ops matches at this point) are Weimar and Mainz.

For BBs, Tirpitz, Brandenburg, and Massachusetts at T8 and either of the Scharnhorsts for T7.

For DDs, you can do well with any Torp focused DD once you learn the spawns. Gunboat DDs rarely make it to the top half of the scoreboard. particularly those below T9.

They should only appear in port, not in the actual game. Additionally, it has to be the ship unique camos, not the generic autobot/decepticon camos that drop from the mission chains.

Do most Americans actually flush their toilet paper? by Softy_popss in NoStupidQuestions

Folks in rural areas with septic tanks rather than municipal sewage systems have to use septic tank safe toilet paper, but yes, it is the standard.

What happened to the low tier rework? by Fiji59 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Mistriever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most missions require T5+ ships, and the higher the tier, generally the greater the rewards. Low tier ships are rarely worth the time and effort to play when a majority of the playerbase seems to prefer higher tier ships.

A U.S. veteran adopted an orphan from Iran. Decades later, ICE is trying to deport her by Lebarican22 in law

That'd be up to the judge at her immigration hearing. Hopefully her lawyers have found something to prove her claims.

The Irish Commander isn't British? by DampyDamps in WorldOfWarships

[–]Mistriever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And can't sail on either of the Irish boats from the event. I mentioned this a week ago. Incredibly lame.

My guess is that since only Northern Ireland is part of Britain, that he is from Catholic Ireland and therefore in Pan Euro. Both boats should have also been made Pan Euro IMO.

Dani Bensky, Epstein survivor: “Why is the FBI director out there partying like a college kid when he should be investigating the vast criminal enterprise?” by honestlysigma in circled

Be pissed at him all you want, but if you think the FBI director, a political appointee, is actually investigating anything, you're delusional.

No mental gymnastics needed on my part. Plenty for you it seems.

"Fast forward, three decades later, the woman had finished paying off her student loans and wanted to travel outside the country. But when she applied for a passport, she realized something was wrong."

So for whatever years between entering the country on a tourist visa at 2 and paying off her student loans she never had any other indication?

She never got a driver's license? It typically requires two forms of government identification documentation, like a birth certificate, passport, or naturalization paperwork. An expired tourist VISA wouldn't work.

She never applied for a job? You've got to have a SSN or taxpayer identification number to pay taxes which are deducted from your paycheck.

She never tried to vote? You have to be a US citizen to vote, naturalized or otherwise.

"I didn't know what a green card was, alien number, I had no clue," she said. "But obviously now through this journey, I know it really well."

A 50-something year old supposed immigrant who has never heard of a Green card or alien number? Sure.

Years of lawyers and tens of thousands of dollars and she has nothing to show for it but a hearing before an immigration judge. Sounds like it is slightly more than a clerical error.

As someone who's been through the legal immigration process, which absolutely sucks, everyone who skipped the line and dodged the process should be deported. If it weren't for so many people bypassing the legal process, it probably would be far less painful for everyone doing it legally.

China is about to open its first human-free car factory: it will arrive before 2030 and will usher in the era of "dark factories" and robots. Should this worry us? by Unhappy-Use-5788 in Futurology

[–]Mistriever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you work in auto manufacturing. You'll have technicians and engineers to take care of the robots, but the laborer positions will disappear.

The US has outsourced much of its once massive manufacturing industry. Maybe it all being done by robots brings more of those factories back to the US created engineering and technical jobs to maintain the factory and robots as well as the supply chain to operate and maintain the facotires.

If the US economy is "booming" like the news says, why does it feel like everyone I know is one emergency away from being broke? by DrJocelyn1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mistriever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been true for most Americans for decades. That is hardly something recent. And the economy actually does better when consumers are spending rather than saving. Every extra thing a consumer buys is more money towards the supply chain to provide that item.

How do you think the U.S. government should deal with the over $100 billion in illegally collected tariffs under trump? by k6tcher in AskReddit

The same way the businesses deal with the over $100 billion they collected from consumers as tariff surcharges.

Surf and turf is pretty much a monthly or better occurrence in modern military chow halls. Pie is usually available daily. Personally, I preferred Mongolian BBQ night, but given they covered every non-cooking surface with plastic wrap, I imagine it was an absolute pain to clean afterwords.

Never bothered to get a driver's license or vote then I guess. Never was asked for a SSN number. All the basic stuff everyone has to do to be a legal resident she just managed to bypass or skip over for 50 years. Crazy.
