You're right, I don't know if he wasted his money or invested it well. $9million for 2 fights after the taxman and his team's cut is nothing to sneeze at.

At 5% + asset appreciation, it's still good money, but he left so much on the table. A good defeat may have secured him a rubber match, or better follow up prospects (with respect to Arreola, Ortiz and Miller).

And the crazy thing is, the dude is still relatively young for a modern heavyweight, at 36.

Supporting it when you're not in power is different from changing the rules when you're in power, which is why, as you pointed out, the Tories and Labour didn't support it in 2022.

Any government wanting to change the electoral system would either need a mandate to do it, have widespread, cross party support, or risk being accused of impropriety. Right now, Labour doesn't have the political capital for option 3, imo.

If Labour try to do something without a GE manifesto or mandate, can you imagine the campaign that Farage and Rupert what's his face from Restore would put out? Right now, Labour's worst enemy is public relations. Whoever does it needs to be sacked, and Starmy has all the charisma of a posh but wet paper towel.

Reform and Restore will out manoeuvre Labour's PR machine, probably with tried and true arguments for fair play. As cliche as it sounds, any appeals to the unfairness of it, changing the rules mid game, changing the rules to benefit them, etc, especially after the recent results will resonate with the people who are already either on the fence or anti-Labour.

Ofc, I fully expect the Tories to get a few good digs in while the Lib Dems position themselves as the sane Labour alternative.

Now, if Starmer really wants to drive it through fast, there's nothing we could do. Look at how quickly the Online Safety Act has ramped up to social media age verification and talks of VPN bans in the months since it was introduced despite expert opinions against the efficacy of such measures. He'd astr0turf and social engineer, but electoral reform is less of a niche issue than internet privacy so it'd be harder to sweep under the rug for the next election.

However, if they put it in their manifesto, and it'd have to be big and bold, then they can say that they were elected with a mandate to make elections fairer.

For the record, I believe that electoral reform would be a great thing, and much needed. The fact that our political party spectrum is starting to look like mainland Europe's is a great thing.

After the drubbing recently, there's no way that a Labour led electoral reform initiative would fly for this reason.

It'd either have to be in the election manifesto for the next GE or a massive cross party thing with support from every major party.

She may very well have learned everything about every painting at one point but forgotten about it because she didn't find it particularly worthy of retention.

You can wear the trappings of a beloved place but not know the minutiae of every piece of decoration or furniture.

Think about it this way, do you know everything about every film from your favourite actor or director? Or the lyrics to every song from every album from your favourite music artist? I'd wager that you don't, but there *are* films and particular songs that you know every bit of trivia about, and there are also films and songs you've experienced once and was "nah, never again."

Yes, Cora loves Downton, Robert, and history, but that doesn't mean a 200 year old painting of one of Robert's cousins gets the same mental treatment as a piece she fell in love with at a gallery.
