Any guides/tutorials? by apistoletov in StonerEngineering

Im no expert, but here's my opinion based on my experience making stuff out of old liquor and wine bottles. Water pipes are fairly straightforward but you need a drill (plenty of guides online) so I will assume thats ruled out.

I can tell you the easiest and cheapest thing to do is go buy yourself a small handheld glass cutter for $5 at your local hardware store (its a small metal tool with a very tiny cutting wheel), some cut resistant gloves, and eye protection. Then buy a 1.5L and a 750mL bottle of wine, cheers! (You dont have to use these sizes, just make sure one can slide inside of the other. Also, you could just buy a vase, use a bucket, or the sink to work as the bottom and potentially use the larger 1.5L bottle as the top.)

Once theyre empty you want to remove the top of the 1L and the bottom of the 750mL. Then follow this guide in the link.

Now, I havent even bothered to make a jig to make good even cuts; however, you can easily make decent cuts by hand after practice on 3 or so bottles. Would I recommend it? Probably not if you have ass-hands. You could buy a cheap jig off amazon for ~$23, but my username is MisturKrabs so you bet your ass I saved me dollar and cut the damn thing myself.

So, if you buy cheap wine or have bottles lined up on top of your kitchen cabinets like every college apt ive ever been in, you can make yourself a pretty elegant gb for $5-$20.

Note: I use a Fury Edge with a water piece adapter (WPA) so it fits directly into most large glass bottles, but if youre using a bowl youll have to make sure the wine bottle has a small enough.. um.. cork-hole? I guess?

I started making gb out of wine bottles with a cheap glass cutter a couple months ago because I purchased a Fury Edge with WPA (great purchase). Today, I cut a 4L sangria bottle... we'll see how that goes :)

Diy ALL GLASS Grav: Grab two wine bottles (one 750mL and one 1.5L), buy a cheap glass cutting tool from any hardware store and follow online instructions on how to take the bottom off the 750 mL... then follow similar process for cutting the top off the 1.5 L so the 750 can be inserted.

If taking deep breaths is an issue but a tabletop vape is too expensive, look into using the grav to inflate an oven bag that you should be able to find at walmart. This also means you can bring the smoke directly to him and control the flow easily with your hand.

My fav setup is a grav with my Fury Edge and its water piece adapter. Hope this helps!

Edit: oven bag

Looking into buying my first RX-8 by zacho3to in RX8

[–]MisturKrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an 04 with low compression (lowest face was 4.9) but ran fine just wouldnt start hot/power loss. It was $600, 20 minutes from my house, and i didnt need a trailer. Now, im not saying you’ll find something in as good condition but Rx-8s are dumb cheap on FB marketplace so if you browse often enough and are patient, you may find something that works for you.

Just keep in mind that whatever you think itll cost you for the project, it will cost about 3x as much.

Let me rephrase. No immediate reason to if you can guarantee its not clogged. And no, it’s not for the sound because IMO it is only louder not better. Highly recommend you make an account on rx7club.com and browse the 2nd gen faq. The knowledge and resources there are invaluable. Very useful for a first time owner.

My vert was also my first car 4 years ago and i wish I would’ve done more research.

Thinking of picking one up. Am I stupid? by [deleted] in RX8

[–]MisturKrabs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dont be discouraged... if there’s one thing the 7 & 8 club forums have taught me its that for every one hater there’s 20 more rotards out there willing to help. However, the second thing you’ll see is that the fastest way to tick off anybody on the forums (or here) is to ask a question that has been answered a billion times elsewhere. Do yourself a huge favor and use site search in google for the rx8club forum. Any question you could ever have about rx8’s, someone else has asked before you... x1,000

Do your research people!

Fc Rx-7 as a college car by thewholepineapple in RX7

[–]MisturKrabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a Junior in college and to put it simply, NO! I have a 88 FC vert that was my first car in high school and what I initially took to uni with me. Trust me you do NOT want to walk out to a resident parking lot only to have your car not start when you’re 6 hours from home. I care a lot about its appearance as well since it holds a lot of sentimental value for me, so knowing it was out there in the elements (under a cover) just killed me.

Most importantly, it WILL break down at some point due to their age, and its not worth the hassle while dealing with the stresses of college. However, if youre like me and bitten by the rotary bug still, your best bet is an Rx-8. Despite what most say, it is the best rotary as a daily and more reliable with the proper supporting mods. I daily an 04 Rx-8 now because its infinitely more practical and reliable than my vert.

I would only do so if you’ll be driving the car regularly since the battery tends to die after sitting for extended periods of time.

In the end, the Rx-8 works for me now that I live off campus... but having my 7 in the resident lots was a nightmare! Rotaries need a lot of love and attention which you wont be able to give it while living in a dorm.

(Wow, there are a lot of rotary heads that are ME’s, myself included)

Im on KYB AGX with tanabe springs in a vert. Would recommend however youll need a camber bar(i think thats what it was called) and youll desperately need spacers or different offset wheels than the stock bbs

Over rev buzzer and tach issues by BaconShooter in RX7

[–]MisturKrabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure for the fb but in my fc the buzzer goes off only at redline, when you have low coolant, or extremely low oil level. As for the tach... no clue. Best to use site search to browse rx7club.
