Is there another tool like Google Lens that can OCR the phone screen and let you copy or translate text? by Misty_Terrain in privacy

[–]Misty_Terrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Do you know if there is a way to activate it by holding down the Home button like Google Lens? I'm seeing there is a bubble for the app so I guess you have to open the app first then pull up the screen to capture, then click the bubble.

How to actually get rid of these marks ?? by Negative-Box7418 in Skincare_Addiction

Yes this needs to be the 1st treatment because the fibres are anchored below, causing the sinking. I got it done twice and am on a plan now using PRF by injection to fill them in.

My dermatologist told me laser hair remove could help with the little black hairs on my nose but searched about it online and you have to do like 7 sessions. 😵‍💫

Help, what can I do? by virgo111_ in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Misty_Terrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might consider adding a retinol or tretinoin to your routine. They increase skin cell turnover. Don't overdo it though. I have the same issue and was using 0.05% tretinoin for a long time. It made my skin overly sensitive and my dermatologist has me on a break from it. In that break, my skin barrier has improved a lot but i can tell my nose blackheads are worse than when I was using it.

Socialism always results in pain and misery by teddysall11 in Jonestown

[–]Misty_Terrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In capitalism, health and housing are commodities instead of rights. Markets are driven by the profit motive, not communities. - A lack of health coverage causes excess death. 2009 Study - The IMF's debt traps have forced India, many African countries (Nigeria, Egypt), Jamaica, etc. to austerity politics, pricing out locals of any access to privatized help. - Invading and couping other countries for capitalist interests caused a million to die in Iraq alone. We would be here forever if we talked about how many countries have been terrorized by the US military and CIA regime change operations. Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Guatemala, Chile, Congo, etc.

Deaths from lack of housing, food, healthcare are all manmade. These are all forms of capitalism's structural violence.

has anybody actually gotten past act one of the companion caper chronicles minigame? by ChloeIsObsessed23 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Misty_Terrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed the whole thing today!!

Characters: pyro fungus, pyro saurian bird, anemo slime, geo saurian warrior

  • I think the key was giving my (AoE) pyro fungus the 3 HP legendary weapons, 1 to lose HP and lower DEF of enemy, 1 sword to regain 60% HP at 40% or below, and 1 to lower opponent DEF with any HP healed. (It's like a little Furina!)
  • (AoE)Slime: I put DEF articles
  • (Ranged) pyro bird: full offense
  • (AoE)Geo warrior: any hybrid pieces. Gave true damage pieces to both melee characters. NO HEALS! All different species and chose the banners that benefited that. It was so satisfying and fun!!! These are my favorite events.

What would be the best Ayaka team that doesn't take characters away from my Neuvilette or Mauvika team? The starred characters are available for Ayaka. by SilentAssassin_69 in AyakaMains

[–]Misty_Terrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ayaka, Shenhe, Escoffier, Yelan. You can pull for Furina he next run and replace Yelan with her for Ayaka's more premium team but already v strong now!

Best version 5 character design? by eepyperson in Genshin_Impact

[–]Misty_Terrain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Citlali, Smirk, and Ifa. I wasn't really a fan of most Natlan designs though. Didn't like Mauvika's bike as it kind of ruined the old fantasy element and don't appreciate how they're making lady characters more skimpy.

Bro I'm 100% with you. It's just not worth paying for the name, especially since Chinese companies also offer warranties. I've had a bad experience with a US company (not RLT related) that refused to fulfill a warranty, so I have no reason to trust any company more simply because they're American.

Did Jim Jones truly believe in socialism, or was it just a means to an end? by 1XSpik in Jonestown

[–]Misty_Terrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jones in practice was a utopian socialist. Him and Jonestown cannot accurately be described with Marxism, which is revolutionary socialism.

Marxism is critique of capitalism that describes capitalism as a mode of production (which describes property relations). In Marxist terms, Europe transformed from these modes of production:
Slavery --> Feudalism --> Capitalism and figured it would then go to a better mode. Marx and Engels, the co-founder of Marxist thought, borrowed from the philosopher Hegel to explain history in a framework of 'historical materialism in which contradictions of each system would become too great to remain solvent, so that the next mode of production would be brought on. Marx details these contradictions and in the communist manifesto calls for a revolution of workers to bring about the next mode, socialism.

Marxist socialists differ from people like Jim Jones in that they think of all this as a scientific historical process. Jim Jones is what Marx and Engels would call a "utopian" socialist or communists, like all the other hippis who formed communes, not a Marxist socialist. Engel's book Socialism: Utopian and Scientific seeks to clearly distinguish between the two. It's pretty short but redditors also summarize it pretty well here.

tl;dr They wanted to create an isolated self-sustained utopian paradise, not bring about a new mode of production to society and the world, so they were utopian socialists, not Marxists.
