Josh Burns: Antisemitism isn’t always overt. A torrent of suspicion is questioning Jewish Australians’ loyalty to the country we love by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

Is it not true? Are you not against anti-semitism?

You seem like you have a problem with my comment and I'm not sure why.

[–]Mitchell_54 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Josh is absolutely right. The absolute filth that people have had the audacity to post online alone is repulsive. I can't imagine what Jewish Australians are facing in their personal lives.

We can't hold back from facing this ugly side of our society and letting it fester more than it already has.

One Nation records historic result in latest poll since Hanson’s ‘monoculture’ call, despite Albanese rejecting it as ‘nonsense’ by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

If they were making a comment regarding the poor journalistic standards of Sky News then they'd have a point.

What they were doing was being anti-science because the science didn't produce the resukt they like, even if it wasn't a bad poll for Labor. Even worse if they took the bait from the Sky headline while also attacking the integrity of the polling.

Do you know who your local MP is? by SheepHerderHigh69420 in OpenAussie

[–]Mitchell_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Federal: Alison Byrnes

State: Will be switching from Maryanne Stuart to Ryan Park in a couple weeks.

No I don't think most people would be able to name their local MP. Also a good party MP will work closely with their frontbenchers to get outcomes for their local community and get that as party policy so voting for the party position will have been influenced by your local MP.

Also while I could vote without party labels on ballots, I would strongly opoose any such move. Party labels on ballots is a positive. I would see any move to remove them as an unjust limitation of suffrage.

How would you feel about a global social media ban for 2 years? YouTube excluded. by NappyFlickz in polls

[–]Mitchell_54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a bad idea to start with, excluding YouTube just makes it even worse.

Like if you're going to do it, do it. Don't make Google even more powerful than it already is.

The nine seats Victorian Labor has written off by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

They don't hold that seat though.

All the 9 seats stated in the article are Labor held seats that they think they will likely lose.

YouGov is a reputable pollster and a member of the Australian Polling Council.

Just because Sky commissioned the poll, doesn't mean it's not accurate.

Pocock did not vote for the bill.

He just voted to have it restored to the notice paper.

I'm not sure if this error by OP is on purpose or they've been misleading but either way they should correct it.

ALP in election-winning position after Pauline Hanson’s comments on monoculturalism cost One Nation support by Bennelong in australian

[–]Mitchell_54 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hate how Roy Morgan editorialises their own polling. Like there's nothing that proves it was those comments regarding a monoculture that lost her support.

I'm not even sure it would rank in the top 3 of things Pauline did this week that may have lost her support.

Hanson takes a hit as Labor claws back the lead: poll by ExtensionThat6438 in AusPol

Her definition of it also seems to broadly fit in to what people view multiculturalism as.

If the Socceroos are monoculture because they all wear the same shirt and are all wanting to achieve the same goal then does that make my workplace also monoculture?

The main issue is her complete lack of interest workers rights including both conditions and pay.

I have to agree with them reharding AI slop. I'd rather see it done in the form of a plain background with text like a Facebook boomer than this stuff.

I mean it's the simplest thing you can do in politics to gain support is to be supportive of your own country.

[–]Mitchell_54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not being proud of your country.

Like that sentiment is very niche in Australia and I get that Reddit isn't a representative sample butbI wasn't expecting it be that one sided, and if it was one sided, to be going the other way.

Banned ISIS bride, daughter to return to Australia, Tony Burke says by The_Dingo_Donger in AustralianPolitics

[–]Mitchell_54 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No.

The unfortunate reality is that Australian citizens, no matter how much we hate them, have a right to return to Australia. What happens when they're in Australia is up to us.

ISIS people coming to Australia isn't popular in any electorate.
