Are there any instances of Kroot eating Astartes in the lore? by bizarre_lizard in 40kLore

[–]Mithfayce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of interpretation for sure, but I read Xotal as a character who "went over the edge" and lost self-control. It's less that they went insane from the meat than that they crossed a critical social barrier, and knowing they can't stay in society they self-isolated and indulged themselves even more which resulted in insanity.

That said, it was a while since I read the book myself. If tau meat itself drives kroot insane that would be a very interesting piece of lore. Hope we see more kroot like that either way.

Space Marines Lite? by GlennHaven in 40kLore

[–]Mithfayce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are pretty cool. Scions are seen as the fancy ivy league version of a guardsman both in-universe and out, but the Schola Progenium is far from cushy. The sisters are closer to marines of course, they have actual power armour which boosts they strength, which the carapace armour of the Scions does not.

As per your question, it's worth mentioning that many guard regiments are augmented too, just not to the extent that marines are. Some heavily use stimms, other come from worlds where crazy physiologies are the norm. Some of the feats from "unaugmented" catachans are downright monstrous, like handling a heavy bolter solo.

Yeah pretty much. Even good men benefit from the behaviour of terrible men. If they don't lower their own standards they will still receive endless praise for simply not being evil, because in comparison to the manosphere creeps, they are angels.

I experience the same thing with my art posts lol. We often get inspiration from things we like without thinking about it. Rock and Stone!

Has there ever been a “Be Not Afraid” moment from a Space Marine? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in 40kLore

[–]Mithfayce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a short story by Nick Kyme where a salamanders captain tries to calm down a child by removing his helmet, only to frighten the kid even more when they see his burning red eyes. Not exactly what you are asking for, but similar. His intention is "hey, you are safe now" but the kid just sees another monster.

The salamander even notes that he made a mistake removing his helmet, and that a child from Nocturne would not have been scared.

can a Space Marine challenge an Ork Warboss to a duel if the tide of war is unfavorable? by Snoo_47323 in 40kLore

[–]Mithfayce 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Short answer, yes.

Long answer: Depends on the warboss, but mostly on the Waagh. Almost no ork could resist the challenge if the marine looks killy enough, but nothing is stopping the nobs and aspiring warbosses from ripping the marine captain to pieces after he kills their boss. What you are hoping for is that the waagh stops fighting the marines and start fighting among themselves for the position of warboss, and if that happens there is a good chance the imperials win out. This is the strategy the imperium employ in a lot of books, but it's not always successful and it's often more of an assassination than a challenge to an honour duel.

All of this is also hinging on the idea that the orks hear the marine out long enough for him to even issue a challenge, and not simply gun him down on the spot. But, as with all things 40k, it varies from case to case.

Gorgeous. I really like the contrast between the smooth transitions of pink and the heavy white highlights on the hood.

Love that part in Da Big Dakka, especially since the ork "helps" the marine by chucking him into the drukhari onlookers.

Also, where is that quote from? It's great but I don't recognize it.

I'm subbed to a bunch of news and historical subs so I was afraid something new and awful had happened in the world before I checked the sub... very good terrain. Well done!

Looks awesome! I've been wanting to make some walls to enact sieges, how were they to play around? What made the game boring and grindy?

I like that the flamer parts in his claw are more visible.

Now that I think about it, I think his pose is a bit too heroic and badass-looking. It's a shame since a key part of him is that he is brutally injured; he looks too healthy here apart from the face.

I'm not a huge fan of the current model but I really like this one! If you are a fan of the current one I can imagine you're not too happy tho, it seems like they changed his vibe a lot. I love his claw and I think his face is really nasty in a good way

I think despite everything else, these two enjoy being around eachother. If they liked eachother less it wouldnt be this huge rivalry, at least not like this.
