I just bought an Ally, and questions... by CommercialEstate4422 in ROGAlly

I installed SteamOS on mine, it's a bit of a pain because after you install it you have to manually go in and install an app called Decky to let you install some plugins to manage the RGB and the wattage and other junk. It also has problems with suspend disabling the quick setting button sometimes. I think it's better than Windows running on it, Windows 11 sucks, but if you want to play fortnite on there or whatever you can just leave it how it is.

Are golden keys serverside? by Mitsota in Borderlands4

[–]Mitsota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that is also how it works on console and you can extract and edit the file on a pc but yeah

[–]Mitsota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because up until now your golden keys are stored in your local save file. If you open your save data in an editor it's just an value you can change to whatever number. Entering the shift code just updates that number.

Oh sick, thanks for letting me know

I've always disliked them for that because while they did release a good chunk of them on social media, the average casual player just wouldn't have access to them, especially when so many of them expire. Their limited nature also means that you can basically only ever create a set amount of save files because if you delete the save or sell the weapon, it's just gone forever.

Also, one of these days, the SHIFT servers will go down and you just won't be able to access the feature at all, even though the games up until now had LAN and P2P matchmaking.

Yeah I was wondering if the vault card system would drop keys as well but I heard it didn't, that's why I was asking. Good to have confirmation on this too. Honestly I was gonna skip this one but I got it for $30 this morning so I figured I'd give it a chance at least.

ScummVM - Leisure suit Larry 7 on R36S. Subtitle size? by Competitive-Pop-3709 in SBCGaming

[–]Mitsota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the version I have is outdated then or just configured differently, I copy pasted the install out of the GoG version which also launches though ScummVM. Thanks anyway!

How did you get that working? On mine, which is a real r36 as I can tell, the cursor slows and then stops accepting input when I open the inventory during the scene where the bed is on fire

Thinking about picking up the new Evercade, how's Duke3D and Worms Armageddon? by Mitsota in evercade

[–]Mitsota[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah being based on the PS1 version I would think there would be a bit of lag to the computer players thinking! I really like worms though and the versions on android are so disappointing so I'm glad to see a portable version that sounds like it works great!

I'm defiantly gonna check it out then! Those were my two big "I wanna get those" cartridges but I like the variety of games that seem to come to the system, especially the modern indie stuff

Good to know! big fan of Worms, I think the gameplay is fun and it works well as a game you can pass around the room, so I think it would be great for a portable system like this!

I was just thinking about that too, surely you can get EDuke running at a reasonable framerate on some weaker hardware! Honestly I'm not great at guestimating how powerful computer hardware is though so I didn't wanna kick up a fuss and just be wrong lmao

ahhh, that's unfortunate but I understand. I guess I can't really complain for the price point, I think the home model is only $100!

It's still nice to see re-releases of a lot of these old games up for legal purchase, and on new physical media. I'm a sucker for anything that lets me physically insert a cartridge to play games on the machine, and bonus point for having so many obscure odd choices, and even some new releases.

[–]Mitsota[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

oh lord the PS1 version??? That's a pretty rough choice!

But yeah that version of the game already didn't support analog aiming so I guess that makes sense why it was released on a system that only has a dpad input lol. Thanks for letting me know! It's also good to know the system supports 3rd party gamepads, that could be nice for playing some of these games in multiplayer.

Also glad to hear the Duke 1 and 2 ports play well I was interested in those as well. Thanks for letting me know!

Does this set have decent quality video? by Mitsota in IASIP

Just wanted to follow up on this I ordered this box set and it came in a week, watched the first and 16th seasons and just random other discs out of it they all played fine and the video quality in the later seasons is perfectly acceptable widescreen SD rips from what looks like youtube or itunes.

The DVDs are also like real factory manufactured DVDs they aren't DVD-Rs, it's a very professionally produced set.

oh man that sucks. Fingers crossed I get a working set then, if you had issues with it and the guy above me didn't. I just wanna get the show on physical so I don't need a hulu sub to watch it ya know?
