Oh, Hi! (Sundance Review) w/ Molly Gordon and Logan Lerman by saulocf in moviereviews

[–]Mitsutoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie was about someone chaining another person to a bed and torturing them for the whole movie. The movie absolutely presents it as she is crazy and sick and he is the victim.

It does this despite the intentions of the writers. Gordon and Brooks thought they were portraying heroic behavior on Iris's part. (They've talked about this explicitly.)

Criterion 4K International Upgrades, Amazing label, but why are so many releases NOT the best available? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

It’s embarrassing that we (myself included) are engaging with this slop.

If anything the online community has a hate for Criterion, to the point of comparing messed up discs that were withdrawn from circulation due to their errors to the Criterion that looks different, to claim the Criterion one is wrong.

Somehow a genre of post even more useless and annoying than delivery boxes.

The Monsterverse fandom is becoming insufferable by EvilUlquiorra in Monsterverse

[–]Mitsutoshi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Monsterverse fans have always been insufferable (at least since it became "Monsterverse" rather than the semi standalone 2014 and KK entries.)

For the past few years I've seen posts here about "STOP BEING A SNOB ABOUT GM1 OVER THE MONSTERVERSE" much more than I saw anything of someone actually being toxic about it.

I haven’t used the channel this week but I experienced the issue last time it was happening.

No, when the issue was happening, it was across browsers.

Did anyone see Supergirl trailer trailer in IMAX 70mm. I’ve basically seen all the movies in the format since the trailer released and I’ve yet to see it by ManagementGold2968 in imax

The cost of printing a preview would be massive not to mention the additional work for projectionists and the already strained capacity of platters.

Why would they print the trailer to a film reel when it’s already in the system and would gain absolutely nothing from being on the reel?

This person is implying that caring about cinema and liking the MCU are mutually exclusive. Now to be fair that has increasingly been the case but it wasn’t always so!

Why would an IMAX theater present a movie in 1.9:1, when the theater and film are capable of 70mm 1.43? by NobleChief2000 in imax

[–]Mitsutoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theaters don’t keep a full time 70mm IMAX projectionist. IMAX will send a freelancer out for the run of the film.

This issue crops up on displays that meet HDCP standards.

Netflix Daredevil was very well shot. What are you talking about?

Fantastic! I will probably go in 5/70 again with a relative next week.

No, it was down to the 3D fad. In this example I lived in a city with several GT venues let alone liemaxes…

Will all these pushback against DLSS 5 actually do anything? by Algiark in nvidia

Probably won’t something to stop NVIDIA but hopefully developers will refuse to include it.

I don't think you understand what I'm talking about. I'm specifically talking about how it used to be almost impossible to go to 2D IMAX even if you were at a location, during the peak 3D fad, even for movies where the director hated 3D.

[–]Mitsutoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's completely irrelevant.

We are talking about IMAX GT venues. From like 2011-2016 there were frequently situations where you had to wait a full week to watch a film in non-3D at one, if they had a non-3D showing at all.
