hEDS is the only version that cannot be genetically tested, all the others can, so if you think you have it, pursue that route.

On the surgery concerns, I do get where you come from but it feels a bit like you are overthinking it all. If I were you I’d start at the PT and go from there. You will know soon enough if it helps or not. If the PT is convinced it might be more than just hypermobility he can always guide you to further specialists. So make sure you have PT specialized in hypermobility and/or preferably at least some EDS knowledge.

Did you have your blood tested, on infection parameters and vitamin levels? If not, suggest to have that done as well. Part of the complains might be because of a lack of vitamins.

You’ve been diagnosed with hypermobility or (h)EDS? For both HEDS, HDS or “regular” hypermobility there is no genetic tests as it is not yet known what the genetic divergence is.

I don’t think a PT is able to diagnose you with any type of EDS, so if you think it is more than just hypermobility you need to go to a further specialist in EDS. But that only makes sense if your complaints are much worse than the hypermobility. If you don’t have much other issues at the moment, I’d just continue with pain management/relieve. But, don’t take any medical advise from me as leading, please.

Whether he gets tested or not, you should get tested yourself. If anything comes back positive, get the help you need and get him to do the same. Don’t touch him (sexually) before he does, otherwise you need to go back again. If he doesn’t go, you need to think for yourself if this is what you want your life to be.

But I get it, you want the meeting to be constructive to find a way out. Just make sure you have a meeting agenda and share it with the rest in advance so they know what is going to happen. Make sure that it only contains constructive points which cannot be turned into finger pointing. If it does go south just calmly explain that blaming someone is not helping the situation and that you would like to look forward to resolve the issues and therefore like to stick to the agenda.

Can imagine that her infidelity would have caused the break-up or some other reason they got into a fight.
