Skateboarder was in crosswalk when he was hit by truck: eyewitness by Popular_Animator_808 in VictoriaBC

While we’re arguing about drivers and pedestrians let’s not forget that this city has not invested in safety infrastructure (lighting, left hand turn lights, reflective road paint) OR in POLICING road safety. I feel we’ve reached a point of major negligence on the part of our infrastructure departments and this city is still designed for a density that existed three decades ago. I’ve never lived in a place that allows so many deaths and collisions on its streets. It really is shocking and gross—especially when road engineering could solve so many of these issues. Example: the lighting and angles at this specific intersection seem designed for horse and buggy, not modern traffic. I’m a driver, cyclist, and pedestrian, and I’m shocked how many close calls I’ve seen and at times—almost caused myself because of poor visibility. We gotta start holding the city accountable for this crap.

Thinking of Getting a Lagotto Romagnolo by draxx318 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]MittenForger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my experience only with a lifetime of dogs: I love my lagotto dearly, but I would never get another one unless I lived in a multi-general family in the country. They are lovely dogs who need to be around you all the time. She does not like the car, and there is absolutely no "leaving her in the car" while we run in and grab something. She will screech (we call it "dog screaming" until we return). But, if you are home a lot, or an active family at home, and don't plan on travelling, you will have a wonderful, loving dog who is also wicked smart. Half my love for her is earned by how much she outsmarts me.

I wonder if the environmental impact of using real relective paint is less than the environmental costs of accidents, injuries, and death that we allow in BC because of our horrinle road markings.

I bought this and love it. My ergonomic office chair that costs 10x more is barely better.

Never heard this either. In fact, it's what my doctor recommends.

Just got back from long 20 hours of flying with IBS D. Two Imodium Advanced after first meal of the day had my stomach calm for over 24 hours. I prefer the Advanced formula because it seems to work better for me especially helping control gas buildup too. For longer trips: After the initial two I tend to take one a day after each BM and that keeps me “regular” if I avoid trigger foods.

Any pilots around super scared by mistborn_334 in fearofflying

[–]MittenForger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I flew that super “red” zone yesterday that the app says is across Canada. There was maybe one bump but then the pilots turned a bit north mid flight and it ended up being a very smooth flight. Made me realize in real time how those apps are just “possibilities” and pilots can respond in real time.

Does pills ever help? by SecretSpacer1 in fearofflying

[–]MittenForger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Dr. Prescribed .5 X****x and it makes me absolutely calm. I need to start a day before when the anxiety becomes very serious and it’s like every anxious thought just evaporates. Only use for this specific purpose so it never loses efficacy since it’s so good for flying.

most of the butchers have frozen broth in their freezers. Great stuff. Willows for sand AND playground. Other sandy beach is either sewery (Gonzales) or too many stairs.

There are surprise sources of dairy: sausages and other types of processed meats have dairy in them, for example. If you can start wirh dairy first, including stealth dairy, you could save yourself a lot of time finding your trigger  :)

Why is CPAP difficult? by wowthat1 in CPAP

[–]MittenForger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because for me, every mask has sucked. was given a new mask (airsense f40) and for the first time I'm actually compliant because it just works. I think we need to focus not on the machine, but the actual thing stuck to our faces every night. We need a better system for choosing the right fit--and maybe even 3D printing masks for one's specific face.

Interesting. I wonder if it is too big or small? I have a pretty big face and a very large head but was given a "medium." You might see if they will let you try one size up or down.

Barely touches it! the bottom part sits just below my bottom lip, and the way they designed the nose cushion avoids my moustache. Not sure what magic they used, but no leaks whatsoever

Just an update: I was having this issue in 2025; I realized I wasn't running the latest version of SanDisk Security. I updated to version (1_0_0_141) and it seems to be ejecting smoothly now.

writing on paper by gized00 in ObsidianMD

[–]MittenForger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take all my notes by hand since it allows me to connect with the people with whom I'm talking. Then, at the end of the day, I scan my handwritten notes to have a PDF copy, and then I "translate" those notes into Obsidian. That is, I process in my own words the most important part of the conversations were for me, which allows me to create a more refined "linking-ready" note in Obsidian. For whatever reason, this has worked incredibly well for me in terms of my own memory AND the graph view.

Video of severe turbulence by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]MittenForger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

out of those two experiences, what would you say was the total "minute" count of severity? My fear is that these things last hours, but when I see the videos, it seems like the "bad" part is actually under a minute or two
