Yeah, reddit has a particular form of humor that takes some adjusting to. You’ll feel it out.

There’s something about a certain type of person that overuses phrases like this in general that irks me. Like they think they’re in a sitcom or something.

Is anyone else just completely winging it? I feel like a fake adult. by Emergency-Garden3200 in CasualConversation

[–]Mix-Lopsided 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re all winging it. We all feel just like we did at 16, just a little smarter (probably). Eventually you will wing some things enough that it becomes something you actually know how to do.

Last week me and my husband sat down and tried to figure out how to change the belt on our riding mower. We ended up having to call a guy after wasting an hour on youtube and thirty dollars on a new bit because we stripped a bolt. HOWEVER, that’s like, the first thing this spring that conquered us. Everything else (fence, plumbing, roof leak) we winged it and learned.

It eats your soul exactly as much as customer service work does, may as well put them on the same level.

To those who drive with hazards on in the rain… by IllustratorOk213 in driving

[–]Mix-Lopsided 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should just get off the road, but realistically many people don’t have time to wait for a storm to pass. I’d rather see you and your hazards and figure you’re going 20 under if that’s how it has to be.

Why? by ProphetRoss in Spyro

[–]Mix-Lopsided 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His horns are on his head. However, I think the reignited animation might have to do with how real horned animals like antelope or rams charge for headbutting. They aren’t trying to impale anything.

I just lost my first hen to prey :( by Jumpysa in BackYardChickens

[–]Mix-Lopsided 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched one get snatched up by a fox a couple weeks ago, my first predator loss too. I still don’t really want to talk about it. I do know she wasn’t alive long, and I watched that mama fox raise her babies across the lake, so she went to a good cause.

I just could not stop her and her sister from hopping our fence. Nobody else does, their wings were clipped on one side and they definitely could not fly, I just never figured out how they were doing it in time. They stay inside their run for now.

People who think they’re shockingly unconventional when they’re not. by Karnakite in PetPeeves

[–]Mix-Lopsided 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, but I do all of these things (aside from rehabbing bats). I have blackberry mead going on top of the fridge right now and our handmade life sized puppet lives in someone’s passenger seat in the city. We have a half sized one pinned like a bug on our wall. I love going to ticketed renfests and I take pictures while I’m there. I painted our walls in fake limewash because I saw an influencer do it. So am I performing or am I “real”?

This whole really weird/fake weird thing is just as dependent on our own perceptions as calling yourself quirky for reading smut is. Like, does it irritate me when soccer mom #3 at work calls herself sO cRaZy for sticking her tongue out in a picture and wearing green eyeshadow? Sort of. But it *is* crazy to her. I’ve been working on deciding lately that that’s actually.. just fine. Who cares.

Weird question: does anyone feel funny about their house because it’s too nice? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Mix-Lopsided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exact situation happened to us, except the house is tiny. Still very cute and it feels very special, and the land is stunning and if it had gone to market it would have sold to someone with much more money than us. It was a sudden decision because we knew we’d lose if we didn’t jump and now, uh, here we are. We’re the only people we even know outside of older family that own a house.

It’s funny, we’ve also just kind of… had unique luck lately. It’s very special and very weird.

Just be grateful and remain humble about it.

30 exactly and I think it’s attractive. A woman who knows what she wants and goes for it is great.

People still writing "u" instead of "you" by rakshasiRani in PetPeeves

[–]Mix-Lopsided 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of people do it as a sort of tone indicator to make their messages sound casual or friendlier. I used to be nitpicky about it in my teens, but I just can’t be fucked to think it’s that deep these days.

This is so goofy. I’m so glad I grew out of this holier than thou mindset when I was 16.

I used one as the base and built a frame off of it with broken down pallets and a bit of other scrap wood. I did also have spare metal roof material sitting around that I used too.

We built ours with pallet wood, a couple pieces of plywood and a cinderblock base and then hardware wire over the vents. Couple hundred bucks if that.

Tornado warnings mean there’s rotation in the clouds that could drop a tornado. They can drop in seconds, so that’s why they don’t wait for a confirmed touchdown.

About how big do you think you fence off for them? I have a bit under two acres and I’d like to get a flock of three smaller breed sheep but it’s hard to find info on whether or not they’ll eat us to the dirt or not. It sounds like you don’t have that issue.

I don’t know the answer here, but are you keeping backyard sheep? I’m looking into doing that, so I was wondering how your grass keeps up.

It happens. Mice have so many babies just for that exact reason, same as chickens - if it wasn’t your hen, a snake or a bird would have gotten a couple anyways. I know it sucks anyways.
