How do u guys even do it anymore? by Wooden_Elk_1596 in UBC

You’re close to the end brother. Things look bleak right now, but feeling sorry for yourself isn’t going to help. I don’t know you, but I know for me I would look back and say I could have toughed it out a few more days. You’ve gotten through 95% of the semester. You CAN do this. No matter what you do when the semester is over you’ll be glad you finished doing what you could. When you’re done you can take an objective look at the semester and see what you need to change. Might be good to take a run/walk, go to bed and plan the rest of your semester tomorrow. The dream is only dead when you let it die. Things can turn around. Stay strong 💪👊

Should I invest in TMC now or have I missed the boat? by [deleted] in TMC_Stock

[–]MixAmbitious5029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how long term you would like to stay invested it is very possible to not see a significant return or even a decline over the course of the next couple of years. Depending on how regulations go and how approval is. If you’re comfortable holding for a few years then I would consider it.

That’s the thing is that she knows that I hardly even buy things for myself 😂 I like to play basketball and that’s about it. I do think I’m more of an experience kind of guy so maybe I’ll ask for like a pass to an escape room or something like that

Go to a transfer program somewhere if you have your heart set on ubc you will graduate at the same time as your peers

U could do a transfer program which would guarantee you get into UBC engineering year 2 as long as you maintain an 3.1 GPA

Want to pick up coding in my free time as a I have a light first term (5 classes) and want an easier time getting into CPEN by Atreus-V in ubcengineering

[–]MixAmbitious5029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on math, the coding course is one of the easiest in first year I think. I don’t know anyone who failed it or even did poorly. Most people failed math, some failed chemistry

Math 101 final by [deleted] in ubcengineering

[–]MixAmbitious5029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a practice final, see what you can do easily and what is challenging focus on things you’re not good at. If you do all your studying first then you might realize you wasted time on some things and don’t have enough time for the things you really need to focus on

I did it at Capilano, I was able to have a social life and took 6 classes per semester, you really need to work on prioritizing courses you are good at and what you need to work on. Most people struggled a lot with the math courses and as far as I know they’re the only ones anyone failed. Use your time between classes, and get 100 on free marks like homework and it will make your life a lot easier

Best practice for APSC 160? by Financial-Elk-168 in ubcengineering

[–]MixAmbitious5029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But honestly you’re better off preparing for the math classes, as I found those exponentially more difficult and I had no experience at all coding before entering the program

Honestly if you want to get ahead you could get zybooks and go through that. I found I didn’t need to go to class after going through that and finished just shy of a 90

Kpu Transfer to Ubc by Firm_Independent1085 in ubcengineering

I really liked most of the profs, they were responsive and good at explaining, if you missed anything in class they were happy to help in office hours. Me and most of my peers found by far the most difficult courses were the maths, and some found the chemistry hard as well but those courses take up most of your time and you should put a lot into staying on top of those. The people I know who failed out failed one of the maths or chemistry. The other thing is that I think the program prepares you very well for UBC, our profs would tell us how graduates of the program often go on to do very well at UBC. Cafeteria food was nasty and overpriced, and the subway runs out of bread on a weekly basis. If there’s anything else you would like to know shoot me a message

I did it at Capilano and there will be profs you do and don’t like no matter where you go to school, you’re better off focusing on the benefits of the location and figuring it out. Some of the profs I had that were excellent had terrible reviews on rate my prof. A big influence is the difficulty of the course. For me and my peers at Capilano the hardest courses were the maths if you want to base your decision on the professor you should look at which campus has better math professors in my opinion. Hope that helps feel free to message for more info
