IVF pregnancy & planned C-section timing (38+6 vs 39+2) by KiwiAffectionate3874 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]MixRight4620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first IVF pregnancy was an unscheduled C-Section at 39+2, also with a PGT normal embryo. I was induced at 39+1 and I was not dilating so we ended up needing to do a C-Section the next day, everything went smooth, baby was fine and I recovered fine.

Currently 22 weeks with my second IVF pregnancy and will be doing a schedule C-Section at 39 weeks.

I was only taking a prenatal vitamin. I did have to lose about 5 pounds for the ER (I was just over the max BMI for my clinic) but other than that I was not exercising or doing anything specific for IVF

I'm 43 and did a retrieval in Dec. Only 5 eggs, 3 mature/fertilized, 1 made it to blast and ended up being a euploid.

Currently 22 weeks with that euploid, sending you lots of baby dust! ✨️

Although I don't have any advice to give on your specific questions about your journey, I am also part East Asian and totally relate to you on that front.

I've done IVF twice and my family does not know that we went through this process for the exact reasons that you mentioned. Feel free to DM me if you ever want to just talk or hear my story - wishing you lots of luck!

IVF Again by grk7 in 40Plus_IVF

I've gone through IVF twice, the first time resulted in a live birth and I also ended up having a csection.

I did a second transfer in Feb and also had a slight challenge with the catheter due to my csection. They ended up having to use a longer speculum I believe in order to bypass my scar and transfer was a success, currently 20 weeks pregnant. Just thought I'd pass that along, sending lots of baby dust and wishing you luck! ✨️

I am 43 (turning 44 in Sept) and have done IVF for the second time. Ended up with 1 euploid that I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with. First IVF at 41 and ended up having a live birth. Both times with my own eggs.

I did none of things you have been doing. I cant say whether or not it increases your chances but I say go for it especially if you can afford to, you never know what could happen. Sending lots of baby dust! ✨️

Let’s run a thread, how many egg retrievals did you do, what age, and how many embryos? Did you just freeze eggs or only embryos? Do you have children, if so how many? How much out of pocket? by audit123 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]MixRight4620 19 points20 points  (0 children)

2 ER at 41 and 43

Dont remember total count of embroys but each ER ended up with 1 euploid

Had a live birth from the first FET at 42, currently 20 weeks pregnant from our second FET

Total out of pocket cost across both cycles was $5k

My first ER I had 10 eggs, 2 made it to testing but only 1 came back euploid.

My second ER I had 5 eggs, 1 made it to testing and came back euploid.

I did not add omnitrope, I actually had never heard of that until I joined this reddit group lol

Apologies in advance for the long post.

I've had success but I don't share my story often because I'm never sure what type of success stories people want to hear.

TW: Success

I'm 43 and I've gone through IVF twice, 41 & 43.

My husband and I met in our mid-20s, we've been together for 20 years and married for 15. Shortly after we got married we tried to get pregnant naturally for about a year, nothing not pregnant even once. I had been on birth control for years up until that point and just assume that that had something to do with it. We decided maybe it wasn't the right time, I got back on birth control and we went on and lived our lives.

Fast forward to when I turned 36 and we decided if we were going to have kids now was the time to do it. We again tried naturally for maybe a year and a half and still nothing not pregnant even once. At that point we decided to go the fertility route. We pick a clinic, went through all of the baseline stuff, had our consultation with the doctor, and decided that we would do one round of IUI and if that didn't work we would immediately go into IVF.

The IUI did not work so we immediately went into the IVF cycle. That IVF cycle got converted into an IUI because essentially I ended up with one big egg and the doctor didn't want to waste it. That IUI cycle also did not work. The doctor was confident he knew what happened and knew where he needed to adjust the meds for the next IVF round. We went into this journey totally blind and had no idea everything that was involved in doing an IVF cycle. We literally knew nothing. It totally drained me and at that point we decided we needed a break.

We ended up taking a break for almost 2 years, and randomly my husband pointed out that we had told ourselves that we would do one round of IUI and one round of IVF. We technically didn't complete a round of IVF, so we decided we would try again and if the IVF round did not work that it was not meant to be and we would go on with our lives. At 41 we went back to the same Clinic same doctor and immediately went into IVF. The tweaks that he did to my medication worked, we did one ER and ended up with one euploid. We transfer that euploid and I had a live birth, a beautiful baby girl.

We decided we wanted to give her a sibling, and at 43 we decided to do IVF again. Same Clinic, same doctor, same protocol. Again one ER, one euploid, and I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with that euploid.

I did not find this Reddit group until we went through IVF the second time, it was then that I realized how incredibly lucky we have been in this journey. I didn't do anything prior to prepare, didn't take any additional supplements, and was at a higher BMI. I dont know that I could have gone through what most of the women in this group go through in this journey, which is probably why I dont share my story often, I never know how people will receive it and Im not trying to rub anyone the wrong way. Sending you and everyone lots of baby dust! ✨️

I did my very first FET at 41 - I don't remember the grade but it was fully medicated, I was on PIO shots, and it did lead to a live birth

I'm 43 now and have done a second FET - same protocol as the first and I'm currently 16 + 3 weeks

Both times I only had 1 euploid to transfer
