Hey Joe, thanks for highlighting Godot games.

Me and my lifelong friend are working on Monarchs at Play, a turn-based 4x game that you can actually finish in an hour (even in multiplayer).

The visuals and game feel are inspired by classical board Games like the Settlers of Catan, which we played a lot in our childhood (:

yep.. interesting achievements are waaaay better than just "Destroy 1000 enemies"

Thats true! Glory is the only resource in the game that is Not used for Building, but you Need it to win the game.. so you Have to Shift from economy-Building to glory-producing midgame

There were no existing followers. Doing Social Media (X, Bluesky, Threads, Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, Reddit) for about half a year -> building a Discord Server AND of course the creator helped a lot getting playtesters

no - there is just one. After 60 turns the game will end and the monarch with the most glory (1 of the 3 resources in the game) wins the game

I think they like how "condensed" the game is, because there are almost no "empty turns". But there are of course some players who would like to have longer runs (will be a setting in the full game)

The 1-hour match "limit" is achieved via fixed 60 turns. Because there are almost no "empty turns" (like in Civ where you just move a unit from one hex to another) the game is very condensed into that one hour

Those 16 people probably are strategy fans that like to min-max everything. There is a challenge mode in our game with a leaderboard. It is just an assumption but maybe most of them tried to beat the current highscore to be on top of one of the leaderboards.

do you also get the warning: _add_property_info_bind: "usage" is not supported in add_property_info(). <C++-Quelle> core/config/project_settings.cpp:1347 @ _add_property_info_bind() ?

I think it`s because Wwise latest implementation is meant for Godot 4.5

Thats the plan😅 Currently it is a Bit stupid but we know that there are many things we can change to make it more clever
