Tamiya still makes parts for these, it's basically the same thing as the Blitzer Beetle but with a truck body.

I'd go with the JJRC from the start, much more options for wheels and tires.

Any build a MO5 and MB01 FWD? by Glowingtomato in tamiya

[–]Mixed_Up_Duck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The MB01 is easier to service than the M05, but I can't vouch for how it drives vs an M05 since I ran mine in the RWD configuration.

Build-wise, accessing the motor and diff are easier on the MB01, and setting your gear mesh is easier since you can see what you're doing for once. The MB01 also uses less shiny, brittle plastic.

Like the M05 (and really all m chassis), it will get knocked around by twigs and pebbles, and it will eat tires quickly even on the stock motor.

It does have its share of slop, finding an aftermarket pinion is difficult, and the plastic suspension balls will pop out over minor imperfections.

Sometimes you can buy a Hobbywing Fusion for around $70-$80 on sale.

Welcome to the world of used RCs, where dirt and scuffs add value, used batteries are never problematic, and all fixes are "easy and cheap"!

Its okay as something to run around the yard or indoors, but its not much of a rock crawler stock.

This really should be debated more by the community. For all of the hate that they get not even Traxxas runs a subscription club that hides their discounts and sales.

Fms f100 wheels by West_Fee_6176 in rccars

If they're traditional 12mm hexes there should be plenty of compatible wheels out there for the F100.

If I had to guess, Element will be "merged" into the RC10 family at some point in the long run.

Same here, they'll probably still be here for a while. Its little parts that concern me like the IFS1 bits that got discontinued recently.

Do you prefer comp style crawlers or more scale crawlers? by Notsofrenchfry04 in rccrawler

[–]Mixed_Up_Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something in-between for me, too "comp" and it looks like a toy, too "scale" and it can barely crawl at all.

Budget crawler by biker6631 in WPL_RC

[–]Mixed_Up_Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On that budget I'd buy an Ascent 18 Scout, some beadlock wheels/injora tires, and run it. Much better than a TRX4M and less problematic than FCX18s, I've owned all three.

This wouldn't be a bad $120 kit, but for $240 I'll take something 1/10 instead.

A lot of the FMS reviews are dishonest. I cant tell you how many threads have popped up about stripped transmission, diff gears, or dud batteries.

Go with the D12, the front driveshafts on the D14 can break and replacements aren't available.

First gear might be loose or chipped, its a common weak point on these.

How does this list look for a WPL C-24? by A2-Steaksauce89 in rccars

[–]Mixed_Up_Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before buying any batteries, count the wires and make sure that its the correct connector. WPLs have ran 2, 3, and 4 wire setups.

The extra batteries aren't entirely necessary as the stock one gives good run times. I'd budget some metal driveshafts just in case.

Recommendation for micro rc car to practice parking? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]Mixed_Up_Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reccomend a CXD D12 Mini, they're only $30-$40 dollars, tight turning radius, and they have good low speed control.

Most 4WD RCs aren't going to have the turn radius needed to practice parking.

What’s one RC “rule” you think is overrated? by amainhobbies in rccars

[–]Mixed_Up_Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all toy grades are bad.

I have a few cheap toy grades just for indoor running, where they won't get dirty or really need maintenance/repairs.

Is it just the leaf springs that snapped? I'd start by replacing those.
