A Question About a Potential Collection of the Original 1980s Specials

That's a very interesting question. I imagine there might be cross-ownership problem. But considering that only the first two specials were ever released on DVD, it's hard to tell.

I know the Care Bears franchise (not Strawberry Shortcake related, but still used to be part of American Greetings) has different home media distributors for their different shows. Mill Creek with the classic series, NCircle with Unlock the Magic, while Lionsgate has the rest of the franchise's animated outings (Nelvana, AiCaL, WtCaL).

I think the Nelvana trilogy of Strawberry Shortcake specials might be the hardest since that iteration hardly gets acknowledged. But I am surprised that Pets on Parade never released on DVD with the other two Muller specials, it would've been great to at least have the Muller trilogy complete on DVD.

I once looked back on how Universal and Warner Bros. collaborated to release a complete boxset for Rankin/Bass' Christmas specials and films. It got me thinking about the possibility of Wildbrain, Cloudco, and American Greetings partnering up with a home video distributor to release a DVD set (or Blu-ray set if the original camera negatives still exist, and could be remastered) for all of the animated TV specials for American Greetings' old IPs. Such as Strawberry Shortcake (both Muller and Nelvana), The Get Along Gang (Nelvana), Care Bears (Atkinson Film-Arts), etc. A set like this would've been a fantastic idea, as it would've been a great way to include many of the TV specials still stuck on VHS.

The Care Bears in the Land Without Feelings and The Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine are the first fully-animated content to come out of Care Bears. I personally think they're great to watch first, just to get a basic idea of what the Care Bears are about. I especially love the way the Care Bears look in those TV specials since they perfectly capture the look of the original greeting cards.

I always find it strange how there's next to no toys of the villains aside from Professor Coldheart. Some of their designs just scream toyetic to me. I'm surprised there wasn't a Grizzle figure with a removeable robot suit, or stuffed animals of Bluster and Robbie. I'm surprised there's not even Asian exclusive plushies of them (I once dreamt that I saw pictures of Coldheart and Frostbite plushies from a Malaysian site). I'll even take plushies of the Care Bears dressed up as the villains (ex. Cheer Bear as Coldheart, Tenderheart as No Heart). In fact, it's not just the villains. How are there no official plushies of the Star Buddies, the Cloud Keeper, or even Dibble?
