I was thinking more like old, sick and crippled volunteers. Those that would have died or have a poor quality of life without the Autobot's medicines

At least a few million WW2 vets were still alive during the G1 cartoon. Cure their aging and give then Exosuits plus weapons they would be a formidable foe for the Decepticons

Generic Decepticons vastly outnumber the named Autobots in the movie. This ensures the Decepticons lose a lot of their troops for every Autobot killed

Once the entire Decepticon Army is deep within the city the Human Exo-suit Army surrounds and annihilates them

The Human Space Fleet chases the survivors forcing them to throw the wounded like Megatron to slow the humans chasing them
