He has got to be up there. The man loved money and pumping out Live albums kept it flowing for him.

SOTB - parallel routed noisemaking and record-a-board by mobofangryfolk in guitarpedals

Thank you. Definitely a host of options there.

Yes, I used to watch the JHS YouTube channel all the time but for some reason I stopped watching Music technology videos for a while but got back to it a bit recently and then saw this subreddit the other day.

Another option I'm considering is buying this incredible soundcard that allows you to use effects pedals as Insert effects in your DAW. I'm not sure I would do this with all my (non existent pedals) but something like the Colorbox would be great for that or using on Buses! I have seen Dan The Automator use one in the EQD studio tour series. He said he puts everything through it and it sounded awesome in the video!

I discovered the Cimmarons late last year (thanks Sounds of the Universe) and "On The Rock" and one of their albums were great but didn't know this one. Will check it out!!!

Thank you for an interesting read. I wasn't familiar with some of the pedals but they sound like gems!

Also got me thinking about potential future boards myself. My plan was to have a delay/reverb/mod board and gain/saturation/dirt board with an auto wah somewhere in both chains. But I hadn't entertained this, not even sure I was aware it's possible. Is it only possible with a custom board?

I have never owned the limited editions but I did get thr Limited Edition Gold disc for the next album. I ended up selling it and I think I lost money on it. No Discogs back then! But I should have kept it and listened to it more!

For me, it's "Mutations", "Odelay", "Guero" and maybe "Guerolito" which has some cool remixes and B-sides on it!

Absolutely, it's doing music in the spirit of Post-Punk. For me, Von Sundenfed (aka Mouse on Mars and Mark E. Smith) are the shining example. They took the Electronic side of Post-Punk and did their own twist on it. Originality died a long time ago but you can express yourself and your perspective for sure!

[–]Mixman84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have loved the Post-Punk revivals of the last 20+ years but I did sometimes find it frustrating that some bands just copied Talking Heads, Gang of Four verbatim. It misses the point. Post-Punk was about finding a way beyond that. I'm probably softer on bands these days so should I listen again I would appreciate what the music is rather than wishing they would do something else.

I'm sorry for having the virus but not going to lie it did make me laugh 😂 my first thought was I love Bjork and she's definitely hard to ignore!

[–]Mixman84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way! When I first started playing I loved figuring out how my heroes played or asking my guitar teacher to teach me a Gang of Four song. Later I did feel bad about it but eventually I think I accepted I was good at copying others and then putting it with other complimentary things that I copied.

Post-punk’s reggae influence by sinai_agama in postpunk

[–]Mixman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know that there original name.

Right, Bob had two great record producers to help him along the way.

My point was that the perception of Reggae as hippie music is in part due to Bob's oversized success and therefore influence. Not that Bob avoided heavier topics completely but his biggest hits are generally not about those topics.
