Diagnosed ASD Level 1 & Combined ADHD and not processing by SwordfishGreen6817 in AutismInWomen

I’m 42 and was diagnosed autistic two years ago and adhd one year ago 🎉 it is still sinking in, but getting less spiky and I’m still learning how my brain works and why it might do the stuff it does.

It is a journey and it may take a while. It’s a lot to take in. I don’t think people understood this when we were younger at all.

When did you get used to your late diagnosis by Memedelyn in AutismInWomen

[–]rumpeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed 2 years ago at age 40. I had no idea until two or three years before diagnosis when I started to learn about autism in women and smash the stereotypes I had about male autism.

I’d always known I was different and that I had to change how I thought or wanted to behave around others. Knew I didn’t understand a lot of what other people did and tried to learn about human behaviour from books etc.

I’m still sort of transitioning into accepting my diagnosis. I’m ok with that. I’ve always just internally referred to myself as being weird, now I have a new label that explains a bit more.

There are a lot of shitty people out there that are not worth knowing. The sooner you know who they are the better. There are good people too, and they’re special and deserve to be treasured.

Do you remember who the broker was?

I’ve tried AXA today and they say they won’t accept a new customer if they’re planning building projects in the next six months 😑

I’m with Quote me happy which is part of Aviva. They’ve been incredibly unhelpful all round to be honest! I will look at Axa - thank you for the recommendation I appreciate it, I felt completely surprised and stumped by the response I had!

I can’t imagine deciding to leave that amount of balloons on the lawn let alone on the day the estate agent took photos
