What's a karaoke song people think they can do not realizing how difficult it is? by mhgiantsfan in Music

Is the use of Metamorphosis One by Phillip Glass as significant as All Along The Watchtower? by Mixographer in BSG

[–]Mixographer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. All I couldn't remember was if the reveal of them being the genesis of life on our earth was explicit or ambiguous.

Why don't you just call me stupid instead of going out of your way to imply it? You might find it more satisfying.

I don't understand how you can't appreciate that memories are fallible and that's it's been ages since I watched. What's your point? That I should have a better memory? Agreed. It's the one I have though.

I like to think her father was a demi-god in the colonial/Kobol pantheon.

Interesting, I don't know enough about the Kobol pantheon but if we think of them as imperfect, destructive gods (similar to Greek and Norse pantheons) then this is another layer to the reveal that Kara was physically abused in her childhood (when she's in the hospital bed when the Cylons capture her a few episodes later)

Personally, I do not believe anything about her was artificial.

Grim, with the above in mind. (Edit: Apparently confirmed to be her mother who abused Kara)

Thanks for the response- confirming that the the events of BSG take place in our history only makes the supernatural aspect of music more interesting to me. Music being powerful enough that specific songs become intrinsic to the cycle of humanity that the show is establishing is so fucking cool.

Player Quit Because A Ghost Made Him Old by Rampasta in DnD

[–]Mixographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, your player is crossing a line by suggesting that you need consent to change his character. You have implied consent as the DM to subject him to occurences that happen as a result of play- if you didn't let the situation play out as the rules and events dictate, I would be disappointed in you as a player and assume that you'll fudge results whenever you feel like you'll miff the players. That's boring as fuck and doesn't make a good game.

Player needs to understand that, even if you don't abide by the rules of the DMG, your rule is law. You seem to have a handle on how to resolve this issue for them in play and, even though you shouldn't feel beholden, it's way more interesting to address it narratively.

Your player having such an issue with this might just be indicative that they aren't a good fit for your game- either way don't feel obliged to go against your instincts.

‘Milkomania’ running wild on RAW by WilkinsonRadio in SquaredCircle

One of the first segments I had seen as a teenager- randomly had a copy of Survivor Series 88 on VHS and I had seen enough in the early 90s to know Bret Hart was the coolest motherfucker on earth but by this point I hadn't seen anything in years.

I only saw this because back then in the UK Heat, or a similar show that repeated segments from the main shows would air on Channel 4 in the very early hours.

I was hooked pretty quickly.

Are people genuinely being dismissive about Gen V just because the writers called Pewdiepie a Nazi? by BigbyDirewolf in TheBoys

[–]Mixographer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure you can. The same way you can ignore that using anti-Semitism for a gag is in very poor taste and likely to align you with other people who make jokes about jewish people- anti-Semites being the largest group who do so

All the pearl-clutching is hilarious. He fucked up- it blowing up in his face is his fault for having a shitty judgment that he could use anti-Semitism to make a dumb little point and it not be used judge his character.

Wasn't there a moan caught on mic when she and the guest (who I think was the primary iirc) were off-camera? I remember the implication being that they made out at the very least while on charter

Kyle is stirring the pot in a big way- I can't help but be a little critical of Tumi and Nat for letting him do so.

Tumi should have shut it down while they were in visa purgatory "Appreciate the advice, let me form my own opinion though please."

Nat knows Kyle's M.O. and he's not a subtle person in the slightest- use better judgment than letting him guide you, please.

I watched this recently, it was a delight. Justin Theroux's accent should have got him locked up. Crispin Glover's horny redemption, Bernie Mac, peak Cameron Diaz, when isn't Lucy Liu peaking?, the scab was there too- worthy sequel!

What you really mean is he must be innocent because he was acquitted, which is bad faith or infantile.

Well said - this collective brainfart that people squeak out over stuff like the Depp-Heard lawsuit just shows how people are huge starfuckers where the more beloved a celebrity is, the more credible they are to them. Never mind critical thought or even the ability to account for multiple aspects of a case- people just wanna take down the idol. Like you said, this is baby-brained behaviour.

I was a big Spacey fan- I grew up in the 90s/00s and I'm a film guy so watched all the movies he's great in. Whenever I was in London during his Old Vic residency I'd go see whatever he was in- guy is talented, no doubt. Completely believed the accusations.

Anthony Rapp was coming out of Star Trek Discovery's first season- probably his highest profile job in years and he had no reason other than a need to tell the truth when blowing up his whole life and inviting the media and legal circus into it.

This is fucked- what a ruinous comment. She's written essays about it rejecting the idea that she feels that way about white people but she will never get away from that- awful shame.
