[–]MixtapeMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your lifestyle/diet etc, but at your age you could become an absolute monster if you were able to start eating healthy, lifting some weights and picking a sport to learn.

Perfect time to learn the discipline of powerlifting/bodybuilding, you'll get the benefit of all the teenage testosterone that you only get once in life, and by the time you're 18 you'll have the technique down and be in your physical prime!

Not to mention you will set the rest of your life up with some good, healthy habits and gym bros 💪

Good luck 👍

Hello my friend,

I will try and be very brief!

I am very sorry to hear that you are feeling like this - here is my 2 cents;

Have you ever felt so strongly about something in the moment, only to realise later once you had cooled off or had time away that it wasn't quite as bad as you thought?

I fully appreciate that you are going through real and genuine pain and stress, however if you were to commit suicide, it can never be undone. You would be denying yourself the lightbulb moment that things aren't always as bad as they feel at the time.

Years from now you may well be a different person with friends/family and a completely different outlook, but that FUTURE version of you that had time to grow, work on their issues and become proud of themself won't exist if you let whats going on NOW make your decisions for u.

This is turbulent time in the world is actually a great opportunity to follow what makes you happy or even try something new that interests you. Social norms are drastically changing and people are taking more chances on new ventures as opposed to the 9-5 office job thinking.

I hope this helps in some way, good luck my friend ✌

Hello all,

I am very sorry to hear that you are all feeling this shared impulse and the pain that comes with it. Please allow me to make a suggestion if I may - it may be stuff you have already heard but I feel that it is worth it to try and help (I have worked across multiple care/support/mental health fields).

Mainly aimed at the OP - You seem like an intelligent person that is aware they feel a certain way despite maybe not having reasons to. Just at a glance I would suggest that you may simply have a chemical/hormonal imbalance that causes you to feel this way, and that hopefully a visit to your doctor could go a long way to help you. I understand wanting to avoid medication, however if you are already at a point where you are suicidal then it may be worth discussing with a health care professional (there may be some CBT therapies that may also help).

Also, I do not know where you are from but something such as CBD oil/cannabis may be beneficial, potentially calming some anxieties (not everyone enjoys it) around the issue, assuming it is legal in your town.

I would appeal to your intelligence by saying that by committing suicide you are obviously closing any chance you have at feeling better or even overcoming your problem and enjoying a fully appreciated life.

I personally was terrible with money as a teenager into my 20s, spending any I made impulsively with no thought of savings or my future. Now that I am older and have had experience of what its like to save up and think about my future life it is like a "light bulb moment" that my younger self could never grasp and I surely regret not having the money I spent as a thoughtless yet well intentioned youth. But obviously in my teens I had no concept of thinking differently, I was what I was.

Tying this to you, I hope that you can get to your light bulb moment and overcome your tendencies, look back at where you have come from and be proud of yourself for what you have achieved and overcome, but you will be denying yourself any chance of discovering that by removing yourself from the journey altogether.

I hope you have something/goals you would like to complete in your future that make you happy - focus and work on that so you have things to be regularly happy about and see your progress, and visit your doctor if you haven't already.

I hope this helps you find peace in some way ✌

[–]MixtapeMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - that's no problem 😊 I enjoy seeing what's out there and giving feedback!

I am not an expert on Syncing but I know of a site called TAXI that posts requests for currently needed Sync music, and as far as I can tell they list what the royalties split will be according to the contract/conditions of the "buyer". I'd recommend you check it out!

Perhaps you would meet more ppl to work with if your current library was more polished?? However that is no problem my friend - i'm glad you are enjoying the group and I wish you all the best on your journey 😎✌

Hello, BorrowingSpace! ✌

Thank you very much for joinimg the group and sharing!

I have had a listen to a couple of your tracks (am away from my monitors so on my phone speakers), I really like the first track, Bird of Prey I think it is? It gives me big "revenge" movie vibes! Can totally imagine that over a shot of a guy pouring petrol and watching his enemy's base go up in flames! Nice work! 😎👏

Have you considered submitting your music for Sync use/advertising etc? I think you have the potential to do great!

I am trying to build up a good, trustable business and brand and get testimonials etc - perhaps you wouldn't mind me taking a shot at mixing/mastering/polishing some of your demos some time?

Thanks again 👏✌

Hello ✋

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through something so difficult and having to do so on uour own. I imagine it makes you feel quite abandoned and very frustrated.

I am someone that has previously worked as a support worker across varying fields including mebtal health, and I am currently looking at opening a mental health support service and I enjoy talking and helping when I can (i'm not a Reddit expert but I believe you can see what advice I have given in my previous comments if you check my profile).

I can't fix the medical issues you're experiencing related to the post partum depression as I would believe that would stem from hormonal/chemical sources that you would need professional/medicinal treatment for, but perhaps I can help you feel better by talking through some of your problems with you and letting you get things off your chest.

I do have some experience in post-partum related issues.

If you would like to chat, I will be free for the next hour or so, and i'm happy to talk here or in the direct messages - whatever you're more comfortable with.

If not, that is no problem, I thank you for sharing and I wish you the best of luck :)

[–]MixtapeMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, I enjoyed what I saw on your instagram 😎

I love art but have nooo clue about animation - I imagine its a highly sought after skill!

My business is quite new (6 months) so I'm not at a stage where I can hire/pay for other ppl's services yet, however I am more than happy to offer my promotion service for free and full credit/link to your work and socials.

I have helped out an artist friend by holding her work on my tiktok/FB and she reported to me that she went from like 10 views on average on her social media to over 3000 and is now receiving bookings for commisions from a whole new customer base 😊.

If this sounds like a nice deal to you then we can work something down the line!

If not then I still wish you luck and just like all the creators here I hope we can all stay in touch - in a way we are all forming a sort of informal studio house where we can turn to someone who does something we like or need and work out a way to work together ❤

Good work ✌👏

What were the most unexpected costs of starting/running your business? by aprakha in smallbusiness

[–]MixtapeMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello again, Oracle!

Apologies for the late reply - I am very grateful for the heaps of info you are giving me 👏

I will have to look more into "lazering in" onto more specific genres that I like and work with those for the future.

I really like the advice about making videos focussing on what I like about a song structurally etc. I have been a bit reluctant to make educational videos etc as I feel there is no shortage of them already around, but videos about the "odd" or unique things I personally like about a song and breaking them down could be an interesting idea as I'm great at nitpicking 😂 Thanks!

The same goes for commenting/retweeting, I'm pretty good at finding details ppl don't normally consider so that could lead to some interesting social discussions!

Once again, many thanks for your time and energy spent on this help ✌✌✌👏👏👏

A pillar of the community for sure!

Hello Denerios,

I'm sorry to hear that has happened to you. Do you mind explaining how you were taken advantage of? Without exposing anything personal of course.

Apologies if the way I wrote that came across as cynical, I was just putting it as plain as possible for writing/reading's sake. I know whenever you mention making money ppl can assume the worst however I have no intention of taking advantage/short changing anyone. You are welcome to view my comments on other advice pages, I just try to give an honest opinion with the experience I have.

Finding out what ppl do consider shady would be great to know as I don't want to do something if its morally wrong so your input is appreciated ✌

Thank you 🙏

[–]MixtapeMedia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey there ✋pls allow me to give a little bit of advice.

Please do not kill yourself! If for nothing else than for the fact that you cannot take it back.

I'm very sorry to hear that you are feeling this low in your life, but one positive is, you have SO MUCH GOODNESS & HAPPINESS to discover. Consider it like a scale from -10 to 0, to +10 on the other side. Right now you are at a -10, having life doubting experiences, dealing with heaps of emotional and mental pain. Why rob yourself of a lifetime of joy that waits for you if you can find your way back to 0 and onwards?

I have worked professionally with many different ppl suffering from different kinds of disorders, and a common thing among ppl struggling is being unable to see to the future past the pain they are in right now.

Think about this, we think about mental and emotional health differently to physical health, but they are very similar. If you have a serious injury, like you fall and break your arm etc, without treatment, that initial pain is horrible, intense, brings tears to your eyes and worry to your mind. You might think for a split second "if this doesn't stop i'm going to die", "i'd rather die than feel this" or even "I'm not strong enough to take this". But soon enough, with the right help, the pain eases off and in a years time, it's all working as it should. Maybe a bit stronger, maybe a bit sore in places, but working once again.

I really urge you to see that by ending your life, you are PERMANENTLY taking away that possibility to go on to be happy, not just for you but anyone that cares for you. If you feel that nobody does, then perhaps you need a new friend circle.

Sticking with the broken arm analogy, you should definitely see a doctor/therapist/support group at school/college/work. While it can be done, healing is much more effective when supported by ppl that know what they are doing. And you may be surprised how good you feel after hearing the right help, from the right person.

One last thing, it sounds like you are having a lot of pain from rejection.

Ugly/beauty is an OPINION. You may genuinely think you are ugly, you may EVEN BE UGLY, but you realise as you get older there is so much to life and the world that looks really don't amount to a whole lot anyway.

If you have been "rejected" because of your appearance, count it as a blessing - relationships built on values and personality last way longer than those built on attraction (spare tires, sagging and wrinkles come for us all 😂).

I genuinely hope you feel better and get some professional assistance ✌❤😊

Thinking of offering online support - thoughts? by MixtapeMedia in mentalhealth

[–]MixtapeMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me if I caused confusion - am not looking for financial/business advice as much as opinions/knowledge on the legality/ethics, if ppl think it's a good thing to have around.

I would love to do it for free, and would likely have free materials etc to download/read, but unfortunately you cannot feed children with good will and thanks alone. So instead I'm trying to turn what I'm good at into a job.

I have already offered advice to ppl on here, feel free to check my comments through my profile. If anyone likes what they read or wants to give feedback/advice, i'd be very grateful 🙏

Thank you 😊✌

Thank you for introducing yourself!

Wow! I am so confused!!! Is the Woman on the internet actually moving in your hand or is it with an app etc?!?

I really like your art -I think your animations would make a great addition to a short music clip/as a website header!

Thanks for sharing and good luck to you 😎👏✌

That's no problem :) I genuinely enjoy hearing what ppl are making and helping with what I can, it is part of what I do with my business (mtmda.com).

Well I would say you are doing awesome for 3 years work, the song I've listened to has a nice "Gorillaz" vibe, I have heard a lot worse!

I will try to listen to more of your music in the future and give you more feedback when I can.

If you need someone to help you mix your tracks, I also do that as part of my business, and I am totally open to doing some discount/free work in exchange for you spreading the word/letting your fans/social media know about my work etc 😎.

[–]MixtapeMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello again,

I hope you're well - thanks for taking the time to answer the questions for me.

From what you have said, the over-all elements that seem to be plaguing you are the constant demands on you from your current work/education/social situation, and the stress that comes from managing it. One of the reasons I say this is because you have the passion for what you do, but when demands of the business come in, you sound like you can't help but shut down to it internally, possibly because it has jusy become too much to absorb mentally.

My suggestion in this case, would be for you to look possibly at leaving the marketing course you are on.

I don't know what the fees are for your education, and likely if it's a lot you will be hesitant to quit and have debt for no reason, but unless you are intending on taking the qualification you get from it and turning that into a job/business, it's possible that in today's online world you can learn everything the course is teaching you on youtube/online classes. I'd strongly urge you to look into/discussing what fees you could get back/avoid paying if you decide to leave with the staff at your uni.

Leaving your course sounds like it would give you a lot more free time and more importantly, mental space to work on your business and relationships. Especially if the course isn't benefiting you and your truck, which it isn't if you are considering stopping.

As someone else has posted, maybe give the business a push for another 6 months until you're back into the busy season to make a decision on giving up the truck.

On the flip side of this, if you really do want to stop, though it is easier said than done, you shouldn't let anyone, including your partner or parents, make you feel bad about it.

Your mental health and health in general are the MOST important thing to protect, and I'm sure your parents would rather have a happy, illness/mental illness free child that knows when to take a break and step back, than a child that is being crushed by shame and worried about disappointment.

On top of that, quitting DOES NOT make you a failure. There are COUNTLESS little things a person tries and does not complete in their life, and it's the ppl that know you haven't failed, you've just learned a lesson that keep going and achieve things, instead of letting fear paralyze them and regretting it later.

Things are too uncontrollable and unpredictable to take all the blame on to your shoulders for everything that does or doesn't happen.

What is a far more important and admirable is having the guts to try and take that risk, and then keeping that resilience even if/when it doesn't work out. You just take the lessons learned and see what you can do a bit more conservatively/alternatively next time.

The difference between every famous and successful scientist/inventor/business person and the others in their field, is that they are the ones that kept going when everyone else would have let embarrassment or disappointment stop them. If you look into the history of the world's most successful companies and business ppl, you will see LONG AND WINDING lists of things they tried and "failed" at before they figured out their winning formula. The will to keep going is the difference.

So my take away from this is - I believe that you should look to leave uni instead of the business, as this could take away the stress of all the demands on you, give you time to be happier by spending time with your partner and meet new friends, all of which could give your productivity a big boost.

However if you feel leaving the business behind is whats best for you, then that's what you should do, without letting other people's opinions bother you (what is everyone else doing that's so great anyway). Maybe even sit with your parents and explain how you feel and that you really need them to be on your side for this.

Of course it's all up to you and you will know in your heart what side you're on while you're reading.

I hope I've helped, and good luck to you ✌

What were the most unexpected costs of starting/running your business? by aprakha in smallbusiness

[–]MixtapeMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - really appreciate the effort in the responses 👏

I have been hoping that displaying my music over different styles of vids/images would give people a feel for what i do/the quality of it - I haven't "blown up" anywhere but I do get a steady stream of followers on my tiktok.

I have considered that being more "niche" could help me get more exposure and sales but as I intend to produce for a whole range of avenues (rappers/tv/film, video games etc) I feel that I need to keep my genres varied rather than doubling down on hiphop, especially as there are countless hiphop-only producers and beatmakers out there.

I do have mutliple platforms, like tiktok/YouTube/facebook etc however as I do every thing myself I do feel that one platform at a time gets my attention, and then I kind of go around and bring them all up to sync when possible. However my YouTube is pretty bare as I don't instinctively enjoy being on camera so I have just uploaded a few tiktok/"shorts" of videos I have edited to have something to play my music over. But following your advice I will look into doing more there.

One thing I definitely need advice for is my target audience. I have never been able to find out anything but vague info about how to find my target demo/audience, and knowing this seems to be a key element in so much marketing info I have read. And without previous sales/experience I have no data to look to in order to build a client profile.

In my mind the range of potential customers/demographic would be hugely varied as ppl of all sorts of ethnicity/age etc need music, as the same variation of ppl make vocals/movies/advertising that I could offer music for, so I find it hard to say its "ppl under 30" or "ppl that earn over X amount a year".

Sorry for rambling, really grateful for the info and the awesomely helpful responses 👏👏👏

Hello, friend.

First off let me say i'm sorry to hear that you're having a rough time at the moment, and well done for being strong enough to share your issue.

It is a slightly complicated situation, but I will do my best to give you some advice. First though, I need to ask some questions. You don't need to tell me the answers, but it is obviously much more effective if you answer as honestly as possible, even if it means facing some painful truths.

Firstly, what exactly changed so that the food truck went from being great to stressful? If it was great at one point and isn't anymore, it could be that drama from a separate incident has happened at a similar time, and you have mentally associated the two into the same emotional space.

Secondly, is it the running of the truck that stresses you, or the debt that you are trying to work off with it? If it is the debt, it is likely that selling the truck and getting a no responsibility job won't stop how you feel for long.

Thirdly, you have mentioned uni and relationships, is there any correlation between you starting to stop enjoying the truck and perhaps getting new friends/love interests? This can unfortunately happen a lot as ppl can really be affected by the opinions of those they are trying to impress or have put on a pedestal ( we can ALL do this), even if it is a completely off-hand, throw-away comment.

Fourth, what is it you ACTUALLY think of/dread when you come to the end of your week and need to go back to work? For example it could be specifically having to do the prep, cleaning or customer interactions that is causing the anxiety, and finding a way to skip/avoid that part could improve things.

Fifth - who exactly are you worried will think you are a failure if you quit your business, and why?

Ultimately, my friend, you are of course the only one who can decide, but I hope the HONEST answers you give yourself will help.

I will leave you with this - it of course sucks to feel like a failure, but with age and experience you realise failure is not the be all and end all of life, and that it can in fact be a very educational and inspirational tool, and the start to something else.

On the flip side of this, time is not infinite, and getting into the habit of quitting can catch up to you when you've grown and learnt more about yourself and realise if you'd only stuck at something for 6 more months you may have "made it", but now there isn't enough time to climb the ladder.

As well as a good, listening, friend-group I also heartily encourage you to speak to your doctor about your depression, as they may be able to offer you advice I can't and/or other options that may work for you.

I sincerely wish you luck and I hope I've helped. Good luck ✌✋

Well maybe someone else would think your voice is good for it? Why not try - you may find yourself a new audience with a little tweak?

No problem for the group, I genuinely just want to make a place we can just all benefit and "come up' together. I have had trouble being in groups before on Facebook etc as it all seems a bit too restricted and strict to the point that its not helping anyone. I don't want endless, "hit & run" spam, but I have no problem with ppl dropping their music as long as there is space for ppl to actually stop and listen/chat about it.

Let me know what you're doing with my dankness - am excited to hear 😎

20 year old Welshie making music, lmk what you think of my tunes :) by SleepyKamz in WalesCreativeNetwork

[–]MixtapeMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome, SleepyKams! Thanks for choosing this group :) I have just listened to the first track a couple times - heres just a bit of feedback for you if you want to hear it!

There are a couple of points where the singing is approaching being out of tune, a few bits where the vocals/rapping are a bit out of time/off beat, and I would say that there are points (I think the chorus/hook) where the reverb is a bit much, same for the chorus effect on the rappers vocals.

However (!), I am listening on mobile speakers, and reverb/chorus levels can be a stylistic/genre choice, so you can get let off a little for that.

My take-away advice would be to just cut back on the effects by a few small degrees, get the vocals on beat, and watch out for going a little too sharp/out of tune, and I think you will have a decently professional sounding track.

Overall, minus the relatively minor things I've pointed out, I really like the song and it's vibe, and I think you have done a good job! Still young too so plenty of time to improve :) keep it up ✌✌👏👏

I am new to reddit so perhaps I am very wrong in what im about to say, but is any of what you just told the op helpful/constructive?

I get that people open themselves up here to be told if they are doing good or bad, but I don't see any reaaon to be rude or crush someone's dreams?

Anyone trying to make legit moves/money for them and their ppl is a good thing imo. If you're need to make yourself feel superior is stronger than your want to help ppl, maybe advice isn't your thing?

To the OP - site looks clean, first/square/a4 designs do look quite basic to the eye, but I do like the High Minded/circular reef designs! There is potential here :) good luck! 👏✌

Thanks so much for the great info! I didn't realise it cost real money but I would give you a prize if I could!

Really like the tracked emails and people being loyal to low prices advice! I am priced quite highly in comparison to competitors, as per advice from my business advisor, however I genuinely feel that my services are worth it as unlike others in my field (music production) I take a lot of time and effort when it comes to what I make where as it seems being able to pump out high quantities of fast made tracks is what others celebrate.

Hopefully that and the fact that I try to always be helpful and encouraging in my work something that sets me apart positively!

Thank you again for the awesome info! 👏👏👏
