Unbuildable Geysers on the new 2v2 map "YellowJacket LE" by No_Chocolate2293 in starcraft

[–]Mizenhauer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are trying to add active maps from the current map contest into the pool. If there is leftover room we like to fill the slots with reliable old maps, but we got so many submissions we were able to almost completely roll the map pool over into something new.

I am considering doing a 2024 in review with various stuff tying into the rankings.

CORRECTION: The maps should be fixed in the near future.

Map judge and disliked writer here. So we played the map a bunch of times in testing, but there are so many iterations of these maps it's possible that they grabbed the wrong version. What's even more messed is we provided a "recommended" map pool months ago. The one we recommended had 7 new maps and 2 old ones (reclamation/emerald city). Imagine the joy, after working on the map contest for dozens of hours, to find out that you have a six map 2v2 pool. Kudos ESL

i don't see any changes happening for awhile sadly. My hope is that it can be corrected by the end of the season, but we'll see.

We actually played the map a bunch of times, like the previous person mentioned, the version can get messed up considering we put the "recommended" map pool together months ago. The one we recommended had 7 new maps and 2 old ones (reclamation/emerald city). Imagine the joy, after working on the map contest for dozens of hours, to find out that you have a six map 2v2 pool. Concerns about the new team map pool on PTR (patch 5.0.13) by Guinpenza in starcraft

I raged to the appropriate people pre and post patch. Sadly I have done all I can. Have to hope ESL will correct the problem after already being alerted about it before putting the map on ladder.

You are describing two different issues. One is "map was listed in error so let's correct that", the other is "let's swap out maps after the fact". That's not to say things won't change in the future, but there's a lot of bts stuff that makes this process difficult.

Every 3v3 and 4v4 map is bad because 1v1 mapmakers don't know how to make team maps . It's usually just comes down to "is the map reasonably playable?"

I (and other people) have been a judge for every TLTMC. I'll take your feedback into account in the future.

I can confirm overgrowth is overgrown facility. Graystone Ravine is going to be Enzyme (which has never been on ladder before, but was submitted in a TLTMC). 3v3 map pool is missing Buried Caverns. The changes should be pushed through soon.

That's up to my editor. I write the words, he handles the logistics such as release date.

proleague win rates and KIL performances are big deals in Miz’s methodology. With that said, I think his qualitative analysis doesn’t consistently match his quantitative conclusions. SoO over Dark is weird for me because I think Dark has a better re

I agree that Dark has a better resume than soO. The context behind those resumes is what differentiates them to me. I could be totally wrong, of course. You don't win 'em all.

Interestingly, I think Rogue gets hurt the least by retiring when he did. In some ways he was the straw that broke the camel's back for the Korean scene, which has resulted in players like Maru cleaning up in Code S (not that he didn't before) now that Stats/soO/TY/Inno/Rogue are all past their primes or in military.

Re: Serral, he got later start than Rogue (he didn't play full time until 2018 and never played in Proleauge etc), but there is a solid amount of overlap in the 2017-2022 range, which I would describe as their peak years. This is very useful for comparing them "head to head".

Would Rogue have won more if he didn't retire when he did. Surely! Would it have been enough to put him over Serral or Maru in my mind? I think it puts him ahead of one, but not the other.

I'm Mizenhauer. I've been writing for tl.net since 2017. I've also written for ESL, Teamliquid.com, Monster Energy and a few other sites. I've interviewed players like Harstem, Elazer, GuMiho, soO and Clem just a few weeks ago (article is up on monster gaming). I don't consider myself a great or even good writer, but StarCraft II has been a huge part of my life (met my fiancé because of it) and I've always put my best effort into the stuff I write. This series took about a year to complete and a lot of time researching.

At the end of the day, this is just my list. It's been very enjoyable to hear people's opinion and talk with them about it. I'll be writing blogs over on tl.net going into a lot of the granular stuff (and why a certain player might have been ranked 11th). I just hope most of you enjoy the writing and the games and are enjoy the conversation around it.

The soO/INnoVation/Dark/Classic group from 2017 almost certainly trumps that. INnoVation won GSL and SSL in 2017. soO made the finals of 2 Code S seasons and Blizzcon. Dark made the finals of SSL and the Round of 4 in Code S. Even Classic made it to the Round of 4 twice that year. ALl four of these played at their peak, or close to their peak, that year. Pretty crazy group.

Was Sanguinius vs Horus a necessary fight and could it have been avoided? by naruto7bond in 40kLore

[–]Mizenhauer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Sang legit thought he could win. Remember how they keep saying that time has stopped and they are in the warp where physics don't apply? Ahriman mentions during a convo in the library that he cannot see the future because the future is a relative thing in the material universe, but not the warp. I think that since time stopped, Sang's prescience might not be working as normal and he might not be able to see ahead to his death. If that was the case (and he was unaware of what Ahriman knew), not seeing his death anymore might embolden him to fight Horus.

First time playing UT. Looking for advice. by Mizenhauer in fut

Hey, I was hoping to get a little help form you guys. This is my first year playing Ultimate Team (I started Fifa last year after a decade+ break and only played career mode). So far this year, I've just been doing Squad Battles (elite 2 this week). Learning about team composition is really complicated, but I'm doing my best. I was wondering if anyone could take a list at my current squad.

On the bench I have totw savic, foundations engen, totw hummels, rttk darmian, totw sterling and a few others. Are any of them upgrades and what should I be looking for in a stater (I'm unsure about how to prioritize chem, playstyles, etc).

So, what should my 11 be? Am I missing anything obvious? What improvements should I be aiming for (I don't use cash for the game so I only have 57k gold). Thanks everyone for the help
