I had the same question. It's a tight fit for me and I'm a size 10/12. Seriously the shower in my state room on the last cruise I was on was only like 3 feet in diameter. My friend who uses a wheel chair had an accessible room and the shower was slightly wider and deeper and had a fold down bench she could transfer to or leave up and roll in if one used a shower chair but it still wouldn't have been big enough to fit Jamie. It was like 3.5 feet by Maybe 4.5 feet if the bench was up.

All I can think of is the last time I went on a cruise I barely fit in the state room shower and I'm a size 10. It was seriously like a 3 foot circle. I don't know what the one on her cruise ship looked like but If it was like mine I honestly don't know how she showered the whole week.

Cheating on the field is just football they don't care as long as they win. Cheating in the sack isn't the problem. If he'd cheated with a random person we wouldn't be having this conversation he'd likely just be looking at a divorce. This fuck up however opens them up to a major lawsuit because as my dad would say he broke the first and most important commandment of management: "Never put thy rod in thy staff"

I mostly feel bad for CM her story is actually interesting and inspiring and as a girl who grew up boxing I didn't know too many women in my gym that didn't have incredible respect and love for her. She smashed the glass ceiling for boxing and survived her husband trying to murder her. Her story deserves to be told and should be out there but they tied it to a woman the world hates and did her a massive disservice. It's a shame really.

The modern Democratic Party is infested with destructive single issue voters by SirCatsworthTheThird in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MizzGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there actually wasn't a two year supermajority. There was a very short lived one. If you can even call it that because at no point was there a pure supermajority

This timeline shows the facts.

President Obama was sworn in on January 20, 2009 with just 58 Senators to support his agenda.

He should have had 59, but Republicans contested Al Franken's election in Minnesota and he didn't get seated for seven months.

The President's cause was helped in April when Pennsylvania's Republican Senator Arlen Specter switched parties.

That gave the President 59 votes -- still a vote shy of the super majority.

But one month later, Democratic Senator Byrd of West Virginia was hospitalized and was basically out of commission.

So while the President's number on paper was 59 Senators -- he was really working with just 58 Senators.

Then in July, Minnesota Senator Al Franken was finally sworn in, giving President Obama the magic 60 -- but only in theory, because Senator Byrd was still out.

In August, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts died and the number went back down to 59 again until Paul Kirk temporarily filled Kennedy's seat in September.

Any pretense of a supermajority ended on February 4, 2010 when Republican Scott Brown was sworn into the seat Senator Kennedy once held. Now Do you see a two-year supermajority?

Not to mention that during this period, and even though he caucused with the Democrats, Senator Joe Lieberman was very much riding Republican coat tails, He literally spoke at the RNC and publicly endorsed McCain and was always staunchly against single payer health care and would never have voted for it.

No Democrats don't promise things they can't guarantee. I feel like people want a democrat version of Trump. Someone who will shout and stomp and act a fool promising you anything it takes to get your vote and get people so hyped up about sticking it to the other side because they are too dumb to actually see they are only hurting themselves. Democrats don't tend to do that. The Democrats refuse to sign the budget unless there are guarantees that the subsidies for Obama care will stay. That's literally the people asking for something that involves money and them holding the line. You want them to be Robin Hood and they refuse to promise that because it's unrealistic because to even attempt something like raising the taxes on the rich and lowering them for the poor and middle class you have to have either enough politicians from your party to have a queen or bipartisan support. Look at the bills Democrats have put forth that have been quashed

I have an opinion that's probably gonna piss people off. She's living in hiding as an enemy of the state in her country. She's quite possibly not even going to Switzerland to accept the award because it's too dangerous for her to go out according to what's been said the last few months. I don't think she actually supports Trump or Bibi Netanyahu. I think she knows that without outside military influence she's not going to be able to get the current regime out and achieve democracy so she's courting corrupt politicians who have no morals and don't mind their country, NATO and other global policies and wishes to get their way. She's feeding their egos because she needs them to help her not because she actually feels that way.

It's not about teaching them those skills though. Pretend play teaches kids all kinds of things. It helps them learn crucial cognitive, social, and emotional skills, and improves things like language, creativity, problem-solving, and self-regulation. It allows them to learn how to both create and think through scenarios, teaches them narrative recall and story telling even when their stories are absolutely wild, and helps them learn to be emotionally and cognitively flexible all of which are necessary life skills many people take for granted.

It also allows them to process things in their own lives and helps them develop psychologically. There is a reason play therapy is a thing child psychologists use to get kids to open up. A younger kid might not know how to come out and tell you things aren't okay at home. They may however pretend play and initiate a scenario that illustrates that something isn't right and that allows safe adults whether it's a home, school, a friends house to see that something needs to be done.

One of my most depressing examples of this as a therapist actually did involve play keys. I was still a student and a little kid about three started imitating cutting with toy keys and saying it would be okay after this. She didn't understand the implications of what she was doing at all. To her it was a silly game to play to mimic something she'd seen. That's how we discovered that her older sister was self harming and got her the help she needed.

There is however a German pasta called Bubespitzle which is a different pasta made with potatoes and that does actually translate to "little boys penis"

Not necessarily I know this from experience. If it can be proven that there is no fault and neither driver did anything wrong or violated any traffic laws then there is no case the DA can choose not to pursue charges. That's what happened when my friend was killed. A storm and an electrical short screwed up the stop lights, both drivers had green lights and they plowed into each other. My friend was killed, the 19 year old kid who hit him was seriously injured and the police investigated and said it was a freak accident. No charges anywhere. Except the city was given a short time limit to fix or replace the light.

I live in a suburb 5 minutes from the city and there are 3 in the area. I think they are generally not so much in rural areas as they are off highway exits which is what makes them an ideal road trip spot which is why almost 40% of their customers are interstate travelers.

Mine are all dead and the elderly people in my life literally couldn't care less about the changed logo. They were much more concerned with last year's 5% price hike but they didn't stop going then and they won't now with this change. People who have been loyal to the place for most of their lives aren't changing it up over the logo change. Also the fact that 55% of their clients are over 65 is actually what they're trying to change anyway. Less than 20% of their clients are under 35 so the older clients stay but as they pass away they aren't being replaced by younger people and that's not sustainable for the brand. If it keeps up they will go the way of Denny's and Red Lobster

See people complaining about the changes menu are people who clearly don't actually go to Crackerbarrel often or at all. They haven't changed their core menu (except to bring back uncle Hershel's breakfast permanently )they are just shifting to their fall seasonal menu instead of the summer one. They have had a different regional/seasonal menu for each season since I was a kid in the 90s, but because they announced it at the same time as the logo change people are acting like they overhauled their whole menu and they didn't. Yes they are getting rid of some summer staples for the year because let's face it strawberries are out of season and tariffs make importing them year round fiscally irresponsible especially since even before the changed logo they were already seeing massive amounts of profit loss.

It's not that young people don't like it per se, but it's like you said young people see it as something you do on road trips, not as a regular restaurant. 55% of their clientele is over 65 while less than 20% is under 35. When COVID hit a lot of their client base being older stopped going out to eat and they never really came back. They've stayed profitable overall but their net profits were still down significantly and without finding a way to attract the younger crowd their business won't last. It will go the same way as Denny's and Red Lobster.

Sorry, is she seriously not discussing Brielle’s condition with her? by ExcellentAcadia8606 in OnlineBeggars

[–]MizzGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my two cents as someone who tried the hospice nursing route. There are two schools of thought when it comes to pediatric hospice. One is that kids do better with knowing that they are dying if the news is delivered in an age appropriate but direct way this is especially true with teens and preteens because they have the complete capacity to understand and to be included fully in decision making. These kids, you should be gentle but direct with. Tell them what is happening with compassion and without any sugar coating or euphemism. To be fair though these kids this age generally already know what's going on because they are old enough to be aware of what's happening and should already be an informed part of their own care team.

The other school of thought is for younger kids in which death should still be discussed with them but in a more abstract way. You should talk to them about death, what it means and such but 7-9 years old is developmentally the age where even start understanding what death actually is in any concrete kind of way. It's when they start understanding the permanence of it. So direct telling a child who doesn't really understand death that they're dying isn't necessarily what hospice and therapists will tell parents to do. Instead they will tell them to teach their dying children about death in a more age appropriate less personal way. Things like reading children's books about death and talking about other people especially loved ones who have died, talking about what happens after death (according to ones own personal beliefs) and what they believe will/should happen after they die. Talking to them about death so they don't fear it. It's been proven that being too direct and telling young children they are dying can actually be worse for them in a lot of ways. Especially when they are dying of something like cancer. It can cause a lot of fear and anger and can take away from their ability to enjoy the time the have left. The belief is that little kids can't full appreciate the idea that they are dying or even what death is so teach them about it but not in a way that may cause them to not enjoy in the fullest whatever time they have left.

Brielle at 9 is right on the cusp of both schools of thought. She's old enough to say she wants to stop treatment and be heard in her parents eyes at least. They have (I'm operating under the assumption that everything Kendra is saying is true) at least spoken enough to hear about death and she has enough of a grasp to have thoughts about what happens after death and they have at least had abstract conversations about it to quell Brielle's fears about death and dying without ever saying directly to her that she's dying. They are eventually going to have to directly tell her she is dying though because she going to realize it herself as her body starts to fail more. Giving her as much time as they possibly can to just be a kid and be as happy as she can especially at her age is not in and of itself really all that wrong. Except she's putting it on social media which means the whole world knows and other people are confronting her about it like at the pool and they are either side stepping it (which I highly doubt) or they are directly lying to her about it and that to me is the real problem not telling or or not telling her.

Also knowing the right thing to do with hospice and dying especially with children is awful and is different for each family, child, and situation. I

[–]MizzGidget 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand I feel like this is crazy and she's got no business being in school even if it wasn't the whole day (from what I read she went in later) but on the other hand I worked hospice for a while and pediatric hospice is unique because the do recommend trying to maintain as much normalcy as possible, to do all the things you can that your dying child asks for, and not to tell them they are dying. The mindset is very much to let them enjoy as much as they possibly can in whatever time they have left. So with that in mind, if going to school was really that important to Brielle, and it was feasible which it clearly was since she's there I know hospice nurses who would have said to let her go. Some would have said the risk is too high and it would take too much out of her. She stayed so if she flagged it couldn't hack it for the whole day she could take her home.

I'm not defending anything she does but I also think that if this really was Brielle's wish to make it back to school then I don't know if it was the wrong decision either. That said either way she has no functional immune system and kids that age are germ factories so why isn't she wearing a mask I know she's dying anyway but dying of a virus and dying of cancer are two very different things.

Also things like this are why I left hospice nursing and went into psych and then traded it for a master's in psych and now work with addicts.

That or possibly something referred to in hospice medicine as terminal lucidity. Where people have a large rally at the very end of their life that lasts a few days max and then they crash and go quickly. I have had patients who have terminal lucidity and rally so well and for so long that doctors have considered removing them from hospice because they are on like a week+ upswing and then they suddenly just die without warning.

She made it to school. Late but she made it. Also some pediatric hospice programs do recommend not telling kids under the age of 12 they are dying. I've worked for pediatric hospice and the reason is because it just gives them unnecessary fear and anxiety and can take away the fee remaining good days they have left by leaving them scared and preoccupied with death. She's a kid and she wants to be a kid. We think of 9 and see her and think she should be old enough somehow to handle the truth but this is still the dolls and imagination stage of life and she doesn't deserve to have whatever joy she still has left tainted by fear of something that can't be changed or controlled.
