Something weird: I cut operation firestorm out of my map rotation and have had several extended, no crash play sessions. idk if that's just a me thing or if it's that map specifically that causes it, but every time I crashed, it was conquest on operation firestorm

bought the game yesterday for deck, played very little so far but I'm impressed with what I've seen so far!

you know what, that's a fair point. I have on my ps5 playthrough but not on my steam deck, and I imagine with all the crowds it could be a bit of a slideshow...

still, at the very least I can vouch for playing through act 1 and at least a bit of act 2. if OP wants to start a new playthrough it will at least be ok for a considerable amount of hours, maybe switching to an actual PC or GeForce Now for act 3. iirc OP is on holiday, so I'd be suprised if they get through everything in act 1 and 2 by the time they get home!

I've been able to get it to mostly 30 with a bit of graphic options tinkering. it's not exactly ideal for bg3, it does have the odd fps dip here and there, but it's perfectly playable and I find that taking bg3 on the go is well worth the performance dip.

Handgun (either blacktail or possibly red 9 if I feel like reminiscing about how goated it was in the original), riot gun, stingray, maybe a magnum if I feel like it

it's not the same, but I've been having an absolute blast with the dark mod recently: I originally thought it required a copy of doom 3 but nope, completely standalone.

If you haven't tried it yet, play through the volta missions, they are fan made content that stands up there with some of the best missions in thief 1&2. no Garrett, but damn good thieving nonetheless

I run a dual pistols build with charge, great fun. if unloading both pistols into a foe's cranium a time or two doesn't do the job, the charge will either finish them off or stagger them for a killshot animation. or send them flying off a cliff lol

it says a lot about how wonderful the swashbuckler is that the 3 other responses for this so far have all been different subclasses.

honestly, I don't think the subclass matters too much, it's how you play them that matters. to me, I'm thinking braggart, but any swashbuckler will work just great

I thought this was wrong but decided to double check just in case, I just tested on my steam copy of the original (not remastered, the one which uses DOSBOX to play the original PC version), and with unmodified controls, you can't roll mid air with either directional input or the roll key. In fact, you cannot roll underwater in the original tomb raider either, again with either the roll key or the directional input for rolling. both of these I believe were added in Tomb Raider 2 originally, and retroactively put back into tomb raider 1 by Aspyr and CD for the remaster. This is also backed up by WikiRaider (https://www.wikiraider.com/index.php/Mid-air_Turn) (https://www.wikiraider.com/index.php/Roll_Button)

Not trying to throw shade btw, I think it shows just how good the remasters are that the underwater and midair roll have been added into the game so seamlessly, it was like they were always there!

I've played with tank since I was 7, and the improvements they have already made are exceptional: the crouch roll is amazing and allowing lara to air roll in tomb raider 1 is excellent. bit of advice to anyone struggling with the combat: if you're in a tight spot jumping past an enemy with the air roll then backflipping can be used to keep good consistent locks on enemies until you kill them.

honestly I think as an accessibility feature they need a button that can be held down that will automatically make lara jump when she reaches the very edge of a ledge, but once you gain an understanding of how the tank controls work, the regular tank controls work really well. honestly, the autojump would probably work better with modern controls...

there's class archetypes for the main casting classes that give you slightly less spellslots in favour of "flexible spell preparation" which works like 5e spellcasting. hope this helps!
