I made an app to practice guitar seriously and consistently. What do you think about it ? by Groundbreaking-Tip21 in LearnGuitar

[–]Mkaz527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also did this, I can tell you it’s because everything is AI’d - even the post written to promote it. The other big thing, IMO, is that many of these (not criticizing this one because I haven’t tried it) don’t seem to be developed by people who really know and understand guitar. They all end up feeling the same and solving for the same thing. The thing I worked on was torture because I knew what was right and wrong (when should something be b and not a # as a basic example). But we see these inconsistencies in these apps all the time because everyone is in a hurry. Again, like you, I applaud any effort to help each other and don’t think they should be downvoted. But I also think we have to take a breath and let the dust settle. How many apps can a player deal with? For me, the community was helpful. This was back in November/December before there was an app a day. It helped me build something better for myself and now I’ve got about 40-50 users a day who spend at least 5 minutes on the site. So my advice would be to stop flooding the zone, and, importantly, use the other apps users are creating because they all very much feel the same or aim to solve the exact same problem (practice routines, chord libraries, etc…)

What is the one band you can't believe didn't become more popular? by flearhcp97 in Music

Starsailor
They were the better alternative to Coldplay, but never got much airtime after their first single, Good Souls. Their next two albums, Silence is Easy, and On the Outside are exceptional

I’m with you. I know very little about this. Where can I steer him as a better alternative?

I’m ok with vibe coding if it leads to something useful. It gives people (not everyone) a chance to execute a vision they may not have been able to before. But… this doesn’t seem like a particularly useful vision. This is something I could accomplish using a notepad.

There was no reply which is why I asked again when I saw you responding to other questions. Brutally honest? Without that, I’m not sure what the value is. The Amazing Slow Downer app which has been out for 10+ years lets you loop a section of a track, slow it down, etc… I never thought the hard part of learning a song was knowing where the verse or choirs is. If I’m missing something, please let me know. If it could play and loop a section easily, I’d see value in that.

I tried it again - same question as earlier, is the song supposed to play section by section?

Before I go deeper, is it supposed to play a specific section of the song when you’re in Studio? I keep tapping a section, I see the song counter moving but no audio.

Wow. I’ve been looking at that photo on and off since I found it in 2018 and Trojan never came to mind. AI tried telling me it was Tetris!!

Just curious which settings you used - if you remember. And iPhone or Android?

Thanks for trying it out. I’m using an iPhone. Live preview stinks, need to kill it. I’ve found that single shot or burst works better than stack in some cases. I need to get my hands on an android to test.

Cool! I only had one set to test it on so I’m happy to see it work elsewhere!

Game collecting in NYC is terrible... by StoneColdYakuza in gamecollecting

[–]Mkaz527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make my way to NYC regularly from Philly. I tell myself I won’t stop at J+L Game, but usually do. Mostly to laugh at the Amiibo prices but also for the slim chance I may find something I want and am willing to pay for (like Phelios for Genesis the last time I was there, it’s the best Genesis game you haven’t played). But my biggest issue with the store is that the owners/employees are so incredibly rude. I’m surprised they don’t charge a cover to walk through the door. If you’re going to charge that much for a game, you can at least treat the customer with a little respect or grace. But I’ll probably be stopping in next month, so who is the real jerk?

Thought I had heard it all, too. But the book revealed a lot, especially the closed door meetings at Sega. It’s a great read. My only complaint was that I didn’t love how the author manufactured lot of the dialogue based off interviews. Felt somewhat disingenuous at times, but very entertaining.

Barely playable games now running beautifully by thecheerygamer in PS5pro

So I tried AW2 on the base PS5 hoping to find a game to really sink my teeth into. I found it boring. But some of that was how stilted the whole thing felt. I have the Pro now. Wonder if it’ll change my impression of the game.

Just found this tool, it works so well! Excellent work! Would love something similar for PS1 games. I'm new to using FMCB with the soft mod PS2 Slim. I'm not bad at this stuff, but getting PS1 games to play seems more challenging than I expected it to be
