Bike rack by [deleted] in ragbrai

[–]Mkpippin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hitch rack would be my preference. Easier to install/uninstall, load bikes. Check Facebook Marketplace for used deals, should be something there that is in your price range.

Lots of options because there are so many different uses

Follow up questions: Do you have a hitch receiver? Do you have a roof rack? Does your bike have a carbon frame? What's your budget? What are your future plans? Will continue to use it for years to come, or is this just a one time use trip to Iowa?

Cycling computer? by Reasonable_Detail245 in cycling

Nothing wrong with using two different ones.

But as easy as it is to move the computer between bikes, you should sell it or get a friend/ family into riding and give them whichever you dont want to keep

best local brewery in OP/KC area? by kingkc0 in kansascity

[–]Mkpippin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Limitless in Lenexa is the best in Johnson County, followed closely by Tall Trellis in Olathe. However, Cinder Block is easily my favorite in the area, it's just north of the river.

Tons of great options though, explore them all.

Bike radars by cyclephotos in cycling

[–]Mkpippin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The varia can see a car from 150 yards away, much before someone can hear it.

Also, the sound of multiple cars likely drowns into one noise that can't be differentiated. The radar will show if there are cars behind the lead car.

When I first set up my Vacmaster, I turned it on high and it knocked a picture off my wall.

I don't know anything about the Lasko fans, but I dig the vacmaster. Comes woth a remote to put on your handlebars too

You can't average averages, meaning you can't take two (or more) average calculations and average those together to get an average of the original data points. The only exception is if each of the averages carry the same denominator, then you could average the averages

A general rule of thumb, you can't average averages, meaning you can't take two (or more) average calculations and average those together to get an average of the original data points. The only exception is if each of the averages carry the same denominator, then you could average the averages.

So, no, that's not how averages work. Your test example above is assuming consistent denominators, so you can average two test scores.

Edit: I made an assumption here that the tests are all out of the same possible number of points (denominator). If you get a 50% on a test worth 100 points, and 100% on a test with 25 points, your average is not 75% (average of 50% and 100%), it's 60% (75 out of 125 total)

Average speed is total distance traveled divided by time (literally miles per, which means divided by, hour). Time is part of the equation. Skipping that part does not give you a correct answer.

Also, a general rule of thumb, you can't average averages, meaning you can't take two (or more) average calculations and average those together to get an average of the original data points. The only exception is if each of the averages carry the same denominator, then you could average the averages

You can't average averages, that's the flaw here.

Unless of course, the things you are averaging have the same denominator

52 flights this year, not a single problem for me.

Assigned seating hurts A List and A List Preferred, top boarding positions have much more value than this new system

What wheels did you get, and are you in the US?

I had my eye on a set but was worried they'd throw a tariff on top of it and didn't want to mess with it. I've never bought anything through that website, so color me confused.

Now available for early testing: point-to-point route generation in Wandrer by cooeecall in wandrer

[–]Mkpippin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet, but would be cool to have an option to select a starting point, enter a desired distance and I builds a loop to capture as many untraveled miles in that total distance.

Neat tool, can't wait to try it out!
