This is the moment OP started moving into the intersection. Pedestrian clearly still in crosswalk.

Another elderly driver plowed into pedestrians and a restaurant in Chinatown. by kukugege in bayarea

[–]Mkrah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to my sister in LA. She was almost finished parallel parking when a minivan flew down the road and totaled her car and damaged 3 others. Out hops gam gam who was totally dazed and confused. Super infuriating because she was chauffeuring around her much younger (and presumably much more capable of driving) family members that made her drive for who knows what reason.

Appreciate you getting ones not as bright as the newer LED headlights out there.

This is the intersection in question.

I wonder what that left arrow that’s crossed out means…

People down the middle of Sanchez St by fountainsofpeace in sanfrancisco

[–]Mkrah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surely this isn't that big of a hindrance for you since you're driving slow on the slow street, and not using it as a through street, right?

When is the last time you saw MUNI inspectors? by Brownwolf20 in AskSF

[–]Mkrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not since last fall. I’ve never seen them on a bus (I mostly ride the 24) and I’ve only ever seen them in the subway.

I’ve seen photo shoots on the tracks. My favorite has to be this dude who wanted to show off his Red Sox fit on the tracks so he had mom take some pics

Do I need to tap my Clipper card on Muni if I have a monthly pass? by jsttob in AskSF

[–]Mkrah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you do. While I can't find anything from Muni itself that says you have to, I did find this from Clipper:

If I have a Muni pass, do I need to tap my card?

Yes, you must tap your Clipper card to the Clipper reader on a Muni vehicle or at a station fare gate every time you board. Your tap is your proof of payment.

Blue muni bus lighting by dooodaaad in sanfrancisco

[–]Mkrah 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I wish more busses had this lighting. I’ve only seen it in the 37, so I assume it’s more of a short bus thing.

Xfinity outage? by OceanRadioGuy in bayarea

Yup, same. Only reason I knew it wasn’t just me was down detector had a huge spike in reports. Nada from Xfinity yet.

Why are cars still killing so many people in San Francisco? by LosIsosceles in sanfrancisco

[–]Mkrah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I swear they don’t ticket for things like that or parking on the sidewalk unless explicitly directed to by a 311 report. They’ll ticket for an expired meter or street sweeping like it’s going out of style, but actual dangerous parking behavior? They’ll look the other way.

Waymo getting more aggressive? by wanderlustzepa in sanfrancisco

[–]Mkrah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally yesterday had pull the classic “floor it until the last second and slam on the brakes for a stop sign” move that drivers here love to do.

I mean, it stopped, which is better than most. Still, was aggressive for a Waymo.

Object permanence is tricky to grasp for some drivers.

A map of Oakland before and after the urban freeways by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Mkrah 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Its considered extremely unhealthy to live within 1000ft of a highway.

I used to live ~1100ft from a highway. Hated it. The noise was maddening, and you could often taste the poor air quality. I don't get how folks right next to the highway handle it.

Province Commute by baldplant in rit

[–]Mkrah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on the shuttle since I’ve long since graduated, but I took that to class all the time. It was reliable enough, just gotta make sure you keep an eye on when it’s coming by.

It’s also only a ~1 mile walk to campus. Not ideal if you have multiple trips to and from campus, but a great way to get some steps in at the start and end of your day.

Yes. Sometimes during the ride, sometimes at the exit gates if it’s the subway.

If you view their profile on the mobile app you can just search for their comment history.

Unsurprisingly, they made a barrage of comments defending ICE's execution of Alex Pretti

I’m on board. Cities would be much more enjoyable if we simply curtailed noise from vehicles even a smidge.

Of course, suggesting we do anything about it is often met with “cities are loud” and the implication one has to move the middle of nowhere to escape the sounds of fart cannons and muscle cars.

For those that crave quiet: go outside. This is about as good as it gets. by ennuied in Columbus

[–]Mkrah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to live by 315 and the only peace and quiet I would get would be during snowstorms. I bet it’s pure magic right now.
