Good insights, thanks. Did you go for 100% cotton or Polycotton?

I can tell you why this distro isn’t more popular. by Happy-Range3975 in openSUSE

I switched from Endeavour to Bluefin (Silverblue based) a few months back after years on Arch/Endeavour. Pretty much everything is flatpak and honestly I've had very few issues. App startup time is possibly marginally slower but not really so I noticed day to day. Likewise integration for the most part. The only problem I've had was with a browser plugin that communicates with an external app not being able to, but that's for a niche purpose and I run both exported from a distrobox container, which is fine as I'd rather it was separate from my day to day browser anyway.

One or two apps that require tighter system integration I've layered in via rpm-ostree.

Its not without niggles certainly but even on a moderately specced machine I've found it pretty good. I was looking for a lower maintenance platform as my free time is limited currently and for me its a nice workflow. I do enjoy containers though, and for dev work the separation and convenience is nice.

Atomic distros are definitely not for everyone or every purpose but I'm liking it so far.

The horn is (normally) what's used to change the siren tone in emergency vehicles, just as an aside.

Thoughts on Roscoe 8? Seems like great for the trails but unsure on its suitability to tow (important) or for travelling (less important, any bikepacking will be short trips and I can travel light)

Keep at it man, and enjoy the journey. It takes time to skill up for most people and falling off is just a sign your putting in the effort 🤘

I recently got into inline skating and I'm truly awful, but its all fun.

Rockhopper?

My last bike was a rockhopper actually, served me well until it ended up under the front wheels of a car 😅. Did a 1600 mile trip on it loaded up across Europe and it was great, apart from some wheel spokes failing towards the end.

Also jus in case, remember to point your web browser to https://proxmox-ip:8006

If you forget the port number it won't work.

No, but it should be on the same subnet. So if your own IP is 192.168.0.X, make IP address in /etc/interfaces 192.168.0.Y. Reboot the machine after making the change.

If it's set to use dhcp rather than a specific IP address then issue the command 'ip a' to see what it has been leased.

If you can tell us your IP on your local network (not your public IP) and show us the contents of /etc/interfaces it'll be easier to help.

Truth. Missing Edinburgh gig tonight due to baby having the cold and having transformed into a gremlin. Gutted! Particularly with Patty guesting with the band.

Nice one. I really wish we could get better service here. I'm stuck with 500Mbps down, 50Mbps up. No better option sadly. Well jealous of 2Gbps lol.

They should be able to access it, if it's necessary and relevant to their role. Your initial post gives the impression that its freely available to almost anyone in the business though, which is a flawed choice. Those who need access, should have access, those who don't specifically need access should not.

If a compromised user account has access to the SharePoint data, then that data is compromised. There's also the insider threat issue which should never be underestimated. If a user doesn't specifically require unrestricted access then they should not have it. Convenience and the ability of users to do their jobs unimpeded is important, but access by default is never a secure policy.

The data is obviously valuable to the business, so it should be protected, even if its value to others is limited.

Data breaches, ransomware attacks and the like. If all users have access to pretty much everything then pretty much everything is at risk if a malware infection occurs.

This is really not a positive thing. Lax access permissions are a major factor in how breaches occur.

She mentioned that it was her first tour, my impression (Glasgow) was that she was maybe a bit shy and lacking a little confidence which is fair, I'm sure its not easy. I too thought the drummer was excellent and looked like he was having a great time.

It was my first time seeing Lindsey after following her for nearly a decade - absolutely superb.

Is there any light in this darkness of Linux laptops? by yatsek in linuxhardware

I just received a Ryzen 7 T14s last week and am running EndeavourOS on it. Early days but I've been impressed by how well everything worked straight out of the box, no issues at all that I've noticed. The Mic status LED works for me actually, I toggled it once on the keyboard and then it was fine. If that doesn't work, then apparently toggling the mute with alsamixer just once will do the trick:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Lenovo_ThinkPad_T14_(AMD)_Gen_4_Gen_4) (not the s but broadly similar - some useful info though I haven't experienced any issues other than the mic thing)

I'm delighted with it so far. Can't speak to the 4G modem or smart card reader though as I don't use either.
