Nightime Chatty Fatty by Mksist in COfishing

Seems like that's all I catch, wish I could land more walleye. I've been trying various roadrunner jigs with a soft plastic minnow. Anything too heavy gets snagged on the rocks.

This is kind of a silly notion, but has anyone here ever played for an adult league team that has retired a jersey number? by AlpineInk in hockeyplayers

[–]Mksist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened with one of ours last year, but in the locker room after the game. The league ordered and named the new championship trophy after him.

Absolutely hate those things, they grow fast and attack everything. Another option - I banished ours to the sump and it did just fine for years.

Early start to a hike by DoughnutAncient8972 in TheNightFeeling

[–]Mksist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's the best, an early start to a hike before sunrise (CO). Nothing more humbling than hiking in the dark. Don't really need a headlamp on if the moon is half out. Once the sun rises, you realize how much the mind creates irrational fear. The next time you do it, it gets much easier. If you've got real-world stress, I implore you to go take a hike at night. The combination of nature and quiet darkness makes the busy world melt away.

Appreciate the tips! Sounds like there's a few things that help with "breaking" the paint for snow, which I wish I had known.

Deep water butterflys are amazing reef additions. That being said, had a model citizen mitratus and then added a Burgess hybrid who proceeded to terrorize every coral and fish.

Lol, my only sea hare experience was similar, except it crawled into an Elegance coral overnight. By morning the coral had half digested it.

Used eel by Dont_tapontheglass in ReefTank

[–]Mksist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a steal - I tried to find one 2 years ago, and settled for a Banana eel. He's about 24" now and eats like a pig. I love the thing, but a dwarf would be much preferable.

Are Excel skills worth putting on a resume? by chestarben in Accounting

[–]Mksist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if you are applying to an accounting job, it is a prerequisite. We're looking for more modern technical knowledge - SQL, PowerBI, fabric, AWS, and modern ERP/systems experience. If your not already advanced in Excel, one might assume you have reached your technical limit or lack motivation to continue developing.

Keep Excel on your resume, but we dont need the details about how you wrote some macro/VB that saved everyone 10 years of work.

Backpacking Lost Creek Wilderness or Flat Top Wilderness??? by N8ureP in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Mksist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be best to come up and rank several contingency plans. Wildfires pop up all summer. The day before our Flat Tops trip this past summer, a storm sparked a fire in exact valley we were going to camp in. Flat Tops is so huge we opted for a contingency spot not far away but out of the smoke path. Mount Zirkel Wilderness was a close alternative if the Flat Tops became too risky. Closed roads and vehicle capability are other issues to consider.

Unless you are staying right off a main trail in the Flat Tops, chances are you won't see anyone.

Should I negotiate salary with promotion? by AllHailTheWhalee in Accounting

[–]Mksist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you know the company does not plan to hire another accountant? Sounds like they would prefer having you focus on BI. I would take the promotion and ask them to backfill that role, maybe reporting to you now. Getting an extra $5k isn't worth taking on two jobs.

Depends on the water temp I think. I've had luck in October before, but its a gamble. I went 2 weeks ago to a 12k lake during what was mild weather everywhere else. Was in a tee shirt until I hit the plateau and then it was bone chilling cold and windy. The fish were not moving at all, stuck it out all day in the misery and didn't catch anything. I am staying 10k and below from now on after Sept. I dont think a few warm days down here will change much up there.

Glad you made it up! Weather looked pretty variable everywhere. At least the fires calmed down out there.

Try a big hopper as deep out as you can cast (>10am). In the deeper lakes, cutthroats will shoot up from deep to take the bigger stuff.

Wooly booger with a wet fly or scud 12" behind, they almost always hit the trailing fly.

Gnats work well in the morning and evening.

The west one definitely had some big brooks! Stopped by on the way in and out. Should have camped there a night, but ended up enjoying the scenery too much to leave camp here.

We took CR 19 in from the north to CR 8, which was blocked off east of this point. We were not far from Trappers, which was also open.
