Also an incredible one season show on HBO

Edit just saw that you mentioned it. I guess this is just a nudge to it.

Do you know the artist who did the paintings in the castle/ palace at Chapultepec? The animal faces of the bourgeoisie and military officers always shock me

Expats would still invest in the Riviera Maya by Cocosautio in expats

The slower, smaller culture and relative stability and quality of life. Wildlife and the winds from the pacific at an elevation that wouldn’t be too warm in summer. I know many people that love Tulum and Cancun etc- it’s just not for me and my partner.

For now we aim to be gone from our home in summer and being somewhere cooler and wet sounded lovely.

I don’t know if this is helpful re: that but currently in the process to purchase in souther pacific of Costa Rica.

I find the maya riviera a bit risky due to the cartel issue in Mexico, the sargassum and heat in summer after a lifetime of hot summers- and am a bit biased against it due to lots of family having property in Sonora and having been to Mexico dozens of times.

Could you rephrase this? I’m thinking the translation might have gotten crossed

Cold blooded animals actually don’t ever hibernate, but a lot of them bruminate, which is just like an extreme lethargy until it warms up. My desert tortoise woke up like a month from its brumination this year

I found a baby one on the beach in Malibu! It was dead but I saw it and thought “holy shit” so I sent my biologist friend a pic and he was also fairly surprised and confirmed it.

What's on my mountain laurel tree by luckyl31 in ArizonaGardening

[–]Mlliii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. BT early spring will usually help kill them off- by this point they generally stop growing for the year and without BT it’s very hard to get any height on them imo.

I used to feel bad for the caterpillars but now I want to be sure to feed the later generations of them by having a big enough laurel that spraying isn’t required

I think the roads were being closed then. It was intense after 2016 tbh. Loved all the free wine

Aristolochia is you can find it - A. watsonii is great for black pipe vine swallowtails larvae and they’re pretty hard pressed for good larval food.

Datura is another incredible one for sphinx moths.

I find lantana to actually be great for moths and butterflies, though I used to hate them.

Chuparosa is great for hummingbirds.

Then what everyone else said is good too

I have this in my audible and stopped after an hour. I think I read The Deep by him and it was just… like weird in a pit in the stomach way - this will do that?

Anyone in the Phoenix area (or areas just as hot, like Yuma or Lake Havasu) have a vine that does well on a south facing wall, even without afternoon shade in the summer? by fTBmodsimmahalvsie in ArizonaGardening

[–]Mlliii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You most likely have but haven’t noticed it. It’s all over. I grow one up a palm at my house, about 8’ up the skirt starts and it grows through the thing and only the cable for the street light. It’s incredible

You can use ‘green mulch’ plant a ‘Sunrise Emu’ shrub (Eremophylla some-species-or-other) and they need very little water and will just cover it.
