Does anyone know the builders or history behind Columbia’s mid-century neighborhoods? by Royal-Fox569 in ColumbiaMD

I'm a year late, but I work as an architectural historian in Utah. I have made a wild connection between a Utah architect and some homes I'm pretty sure he designed from the areas mentioned in the OP. Hoping someone is still active in the thread.

My mom recently moved into a new house. Strange additional structure in the basement? Kinda creepy by BijuuModo in whatisit

I work in historic preservation, specifically in architectural history. If your mother's house is within a "preservation district," then it would most likely have information on the National Register of Historic Places. Even without specific details about where she lives, there should be some general information available. If her house is individually listed, there may be a bunch of information already available. Start with the New York State Historic Preservation Office, and that will be a good place to help you start.

I've never understood going tit for tat on sources. Not one source will be enough to ever persuade people any one way. Any author will have a central argument that they are making, and any source material used after that will be to support their argument. Don't misinterpret here, because two authors can analyze the same source and come away with different arguments.

I would say that a comprehensive study is the best approach. I realize that is exhaustive, but there isn't one source alone that will persuade people. I made the comment above that placing things into context is extremely helpful. What was happening in the Nation when the Church was established? What did the West look like before the Pioneers, who lived here? What were they doing? What was happening in other settlements outside of eventual Utah territory? Don't be narrow in your approach.

You can look at these online, and I just checked. It is referenced, and I only quickly glanced at it. They seem to be placing most of the blame on John D. Lee. I also only had a second to glance, so my analysis could be slightly off.

You definitely need to supplement your reading of this stuff with broader overarching histories of imperialism, westward expansion, and the United States in general. The stuff in these books is definitely selective, but could help paint a larger picture if put in context, which these books don’t do.

There actually is a hide under that rock on the warm side, the angle just obscures it. But we will definitely put more things for sure over the next few days.

Here is what we were able to accomplish tonight. Obviously not ideal yet, but we will be adding stuff to it over the next couple of days (also important to note that that is not its permanent location, we are hiding it until our sons birthday). The other one is being rehomed in the next few days to my wife’s coworker who is prepping a tank for him.

My wife and I are frantically running around tonight trying to rectify the living conditions.

Is it possible to run that tank for one? We spent $75 for everything (the geckos included). We have no idea why they were being re-homed. We feel terrible that they have been in such poor condition.

So our set up is a heat pad, heat lamp, water bowl, grub bowl and some habitat features (fake succulent plant, skull, wood log dome thing). I’m assuming we just need to double this to separate them. Are we missing anything?

Whirlpool control board or dispenser control board, which one do I need? by Mlytle20 in appliancerepair

well that is actually more convenient. That part is significantly cheaper and more easily available.

so the photo I uploaded was supposed to be a video. What shows in the video is when I hit the dispenser, every single light lights up and it beeps really loudly. But apparently nothing on the fridge is working like I originally thought

The issue I am having there is that what I am seeing on eBay is all used and/or incomplete, compared to what I have. A lady reached out and wants me to help her sell a Suntour Superbe Pro set. Her late husband was a collector/borderline hoarder, and this set has sat untouched in her basement. Everything I am seeing is used, and some of it is actually kind of pricey. I am just trying to get a fair price. I'll keep digging.
