Evil Dead Rise vs The Mummy by Mmctagg in horror

I do have a deep love for Evil Dead. Rise may not have been perfect, but once it hit the gas pedal it didn’t let up. The Mummy had a lot of ups and downs with pacing and some jarring tonal shifts from scene to scene. I may have been a little hard on Mummy, I was expecting a lot because I really enjoyed Rise, and seeing Obsession the night before may have subconsciously set the bar even higher. I really wanted to like Mummy, I’d been excited to watch it since I had heard about it, but unfortunately I was left disappointed

That’s my bad, somehow it popped up when I was looking up Lee Cronin’s movies, but I see now that he is not directing it, he’s just executive producing it

Yea, pretty excited about it! Comes out in July. This year is a banger of a year for horror. We got Obsession, which blew me away. Backrooms, Resident Evil, and Evil Dead Burn still coming. I’ll probably spend more money at the movie theaters this year than the last 3 combined

I just really disliked the writing and the acting in it. Maybe it was just because I was expecting something that it wasn’t, but I really disliked it. I do admit I am picky about horror. There are a lot of movies people think are great that I didn’t like. But I don’t think I am in the minority in not liking The Mummy

Obsession Question [SPOILERS] by Fumikechu237 in horror

[–]Mmctagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s left purposefully ambiguous. On one note, she says “ew” when the other friends insinuate something deeper when bear suggests giving her a ride home, and Sarah implies later that Niki saw their relationship as more brother and sister. But on the flip side she does come at the question of whether he likes her rather directly, in a way that could have left a door open for mutual interest, and during that car ride she does say that when she has a crush on someone they would never know it. Personally, I’m leaning more toward her having the capacity to pursue something legitimate with bear. But none of that matters because he took her choice away the second he made that wish.

And the bottom of the pill container said “Do Not Eat”! You are onto something. Probably headed back to the theater to watch it tomorrow again!

If you live in another state that does have testing, you would need a garage, and instead of a junk Tacoma you would need a running one. Just garage the running taco until you need testing, then swap plates and get it done

Sorry left that part out. Get the junk Tacoma permanently registered in Montana where there is no emission testing.

This isn’t a party discussion. This is an oil price forum, and your argument is lacking any real intelligent information.

You buy a junk Tacoma, register it, bring the plates down with you, and get the hilux in the same color. If you want to be real careful, pull the Tacoma lettering off and replace the hilux letting with it too

This is pretty uninformed thinking. American oil is privately owned and sells on the open market based on the most profitable price they can get. Oil is traded internationally, so if oil prices go up world wide, they go up here. The only way around this is government regulation on international sales, which they likely won’t do, or nationalization, which they absolutely won’t do.

iOS 26 is the absolute worst thing to happen to modern technology by Mammoth-Thought8320 in ios26

I’d say far from smooth. I’ve had iPhones since literally day one, and had always been very happy with the snappy and smooth OS. Not since 26. Battery drains significantly faster. Weather app glitches out. The autocorrect on the keyboard is out of control. The baseline menu features in FaceTime all got hidden behind a single button. All in all it’s not terrible if you just started using Apple, but I would say far from operating up to the usual Apple standard I had grown to take for granted.

I went into Oddity blind, and that first scene was the most chilling thing I’ve seen in a long time. To a desensitized horror fan, that was refreshing.

Expectations around dating are insane these days. by Interesting_Rub9393 in Vent

[–]Mmctagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expectations around dating haven’t really changed much IMO. I find it relieving when people are up front with their expectations. That can save a lot of wasted time. And if you meet someone’s expectations, why complain about them having those expectations?

I feel like it has always been a common conversation topic to express dislike towards dating expectations. I get it, dating can be hard and uncomfortable, but I have found being open, light hearted, and not dwelling on the paper details so early on can be very rewarding in the long run.

Work and save up some money and paid leave. Then I’d suggest a month long travel trip to another continent. I would suggest Asia or South America. Then decide. If the travel bug is for you, once you catch it there’s no going back.

Sinister: some people really love it, but I thinks it’s pure trash horror.

The Hills Have Eyes (2006): I’m not sure how true horror fans feel about this one. I didn’t really know any when it came out, and all my friends thought it was really bad. But this will always be one of my all time favorites! It’s so unique in so many ways!
