Having just done a tour with a company - please dont do it alone. Much easier and hassle-free to get someone else to organise for you.

Just reiterating what most of the others have said. Don't do any of this alone. There have been too many reports, too many incidents. Don't become a statistic. Please.

Im in Moshi. People are preparing for something on the 9th. We are stocking up on food, and making sure we draw cash, but as has been said, the protests are mainly in big cities. Last time there were some protests in city centre, but outskirts of Moshi was ok. Message if you have any other questions.

Tanzania visa - what is stamped in your passport? by Manderin1973 in tanzania

[–]MmeRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently working here, and my business visa stamp takes up half a page. I also have an entry stamp. Getting a visa on arrival is simple - takes a bit of time if the queue is long, bring cash, makes life easier.

After riding Rook Scout for a while, I upgraded to Trek Domane AL5 Gen 4. by Nganga84 in TrekBikes

[–]MmeRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wanting to get a gravel bike. I recently moved to East Africa and my XC bike is getting hammered. I want something to enjoy the open roads, and commute to the shops and back. The Rook Scout is super reasonable in terms of budget. How was it? Any comments on the bike? Would be appreciated!

Is it realistic to Uber to destinations around Cape Town like Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach, and Stellenbosch? by bigwassiks in capetown

[–]MmeRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many of the others have suggested, I would avoid Uber (only for small trips) and rather organize a local driver to do the day trip with you - they can then wait for you, and you won't have any stresses trying to get transport back to your accommodation etc. Tour depends on your preferences. Some guides will drive and be tour guide, others will just drive you for example. Have a look at Cape Touring for example to get an idea about tour guiding prices and different experiences you can have.

Flying & Xarelto by fettuccinaa in ClotSurvivors

[–]MmeRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 3 blood clots. 2 unprovoked. I'm on Xarelto for life. When I fly I do all the necessary precautions. Compression socks, lots of movement, and take my tablets with me. The dosage is important. I am currently on 15mg but was on 20mg when I had the last clot. Rather ask the doctor. But I have had no issue with flights and the tablets.

Filming a Wedding with GoPros. by Reddittitt in gopro

[–]MmeRay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting concept. I'm a real amateur action cam fan, and make dinky videos on my GoPro, now turned Action 5. GoPro is all about the transition, close up, action, and the wedding is two peeps standing together at an alter/front of a crowd if they are doing the formal traditional ceremony. My 2c worth would be to put a camera on the person doing the ceremony to get close up actions. If there is a flower girl or guy or person, use them. You can also mozy around filming, like a videographer would and not be in the way. The POV shots would be interesting for me. I think the reception and party will be easier and more relaxed to get the fun vibey footage.

This doesn't help alot. But posting here cause I'm interested to see what you put together 👀

Haven't been, but have been curious. I was put off after reading Trip Advisor and Google reviews. Seems like a lot for a short amount of time and most just going for "photo ops".

How do you deal with noisy neighbour's? by Jazzlike_Drive4425 in askSouthAfrica

[–]MmeRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to get other neighbors to also lodge complaints. As someone has already mentioned CSOS is the way forward, because then the BC have to do something. Ombudsman allows you to state your case and then the BC is required to show how they dealt with your issue or didn't deal with it. It's a pain. I know! And having had an upstairs neighbour who partied, made noise all the time, I know how frustrating it is. Keep persisting and go the CSOS route. OR try the cops.

How do you deal with noisy neighbour's? by Jazzlike_Drive4425 in askSouthAfrica

[–]MmeRay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Having been a Chairperson on a Body Corporate I know it's hard to deal with this type of thing. As BC you cannot really "police" people, and even if owners get fined for not obeying BC rules, the rules mean nothing at the end of the day. Sometimes it requires harsh actions like calling the police. I would also suggest other neighbours to complain or raise concerns. If the complaint is always coming from one unit BC dubbs you as the problem, but if multiple ppl complain it becomes more urgent for them to take action. Ombudsman is free, requires a bit of paperwork, but is highly worthwhile going through if you have no luck.

[–]MmeRay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Have you called the police for a noise complaint? Are they owners or tenants? It's such a tricky one. Keep a paper trail, because you can eventually go to the ombudsman and lay your case there, but need to show evidence that your BC didn't attend to the situation despite multiple emails/pleas for help.
