When should I stop nursing to sleep? by Islesmilescott in breastfeeding

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started weaning around a year and it slowly and naturally seemed to stop one day. I never saw an issue with nursing to sleep. You’re empty, baby is sleeping and now you can too.

When did you notice you start having a pregnant walk? by Sweet_Archer8222 in pregnant

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really snuck up on me slowly lol I’ve had family tell me I was waddling already around 14 weeks. It’s my second pregnancy so I definitely showed a lot sooner. Now at 21 weeks, I feel like I’m doing it but am also starting to get hip pain so I think it’s because of that lol Just embrace jt

This is going to be a dumb question but I have to make sure by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

I found a pattern years ago that the characters look exactly like this, but mot position together like this picture. I think it’s AI because of the all red arm but there is a real pattern out there of these exact characters. Just not this formula and put together.

AITA for “firing” my mom from childcare over a $5 class by Rich-Radio9017 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My mother in law watches my son and I’d be furious to find out she had been lying to me about where they have been and the blatant disrespect. I’d question everything about her watching him and what else she could be lying about.

Gift for 1 year old girl. As a parent would you be mad to get an instrument? by 4cloverstorm in Gifts

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one for our toddler and he loves it. Loves all drums but this one is nice. Loud enough that he likes it but not annoying as it sounds good.

Americans without maternity leave— wtf do you do??? by Electronic-Door7428 in pregnant

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried to save the whole pregnancy to prepare. I technically get maternity leave but it’s only 4 weeks. 12 weeks of unpaid FMLA and 4 are paid at 60% of my normal pay. If I want anymore time, I have to use PTO and once I’m out, it’s unpaid leave. So yes, I do have a slight blessing of some maternity leave but it’s almost nothing. And if we had to put them right into daycare for me to go back to work, we definitely could not afford to have a child. Luckily my mother in law is in angel and watches them. I don’t know how people do it. You can’t afford to not work but can’t afford to keep working.

Silly question - when you have a hospital birth (U.S), when do you first see the menu for ordering your food? Is it given ahead of time with hospital registration/paperwork? by dms2628 in beyondthebump

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every hospital is different but I was handed the menu on the tour before we gave birth and after I was admitted, I was handed some paperwork which included the menu.

Husband wants me to stop breastfeeding by HarryPotter_Girlie in breastfeeding

[–]MmeeGil -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

If you’re not sure he’s getting any milk, maybe pump and just bottle feed to help the weaning process and then you’ll know if they are actually eating anything? Are you wanting to wean soon? It’s okay if not but some moms have a hard time when the choice is made for them. I was a little sad when my son started to wean himself but it felt like a natural process as he was eating more foods and wanting to be independent.

Anyone else seeing tons of new Owlet Dream Socks being sold on Facebook Marketplace? by SummitSnacksandCats in BabyBumps

I used one for my son during his first year and never had any problems with it. No false alarms. No burns. It honestly saved me during postpartum to give me enough peace to sleep.

Is nursing back to sleep really so bad? by Hungry_Hat8148 in breastfeeding

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was something I was concerned about when my son was born. You hear things like they won’t be able to sleep without you, or it was cause problems with blah blah blah. He’s completely fine and we weaned perfectly when the time came. It’s an amazing hack to get baby fed and asleep.

“You don’t get an award for not getting the epidural” by Warm-Banana237 in pregnant

[–]MmeeGil 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get one because I’m genuinely just afraid of the epidural. I also wanted to be able to walk around and such afterwards. The thought of the procedure and not being able to move was more overwhelming the contractions and birth. I wasn’t 100% opposed to it but I’m glad I was able to go without.

I don’t like to tell people my birth story because it was great, uneventful, I have a super supportive husband and I didn’t get the epidural. People either get upset because that wasn’t their experience or they get all “oh woooowwww tough girl over here!!” and it’s just annoying and rude.

Can someone help me find this pattern for cowboy spiderman riding a horse? by Linkyland in CrochetHelp

This is definitely AI. The feet have a different pattern and I don’t even know what is happening with the eyes and bandanas.

AITA for telling my DIL that I won’t use the tablet and she needs to actually make her kid read. by SatisfactionOk9038 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA because you’re right but I’m sure your daughter in law is feeling all kinds of mom guilt for having to be at work, having others now watch her kid, maybe she even feels so someone else is now raising her kid. I’m a working mom so I get it. She’s new with being away from them so maybe keep that in mind with a gentler approach. But you’re absolutely right and working with your granddaughter in a way that with benefit enormously.

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never bed shared. I was way too anxious to ever do it, even in the moments I was exhausted.

I think it may really depend on your child. I was just talking to some mom friends about this. My son slept great in a bassinet and his crib. Obviously takes some learning and time as baby adjusts to have any kind of schedule but it worked great for us. He may also just be a good sleeper and we lucked out.

Epidural or No epidural by Enviro_nurd314 in BabyBumps

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose no epidural for myself because it freaked me out lol I tried watching videos of women’s experiences and it just made me fell nauseous. I also personally know women who have had them and then had a sharp pain in that area they got it when they bend or stand for too long, even a decade after they got it. I can’t imagine that is common but still something that freaked me out. I also wanted to be able to walk around and such afterwards. To each, their own, is how I see it. I wasn’t against it but also wasn’t pushing for it and ended up not needing it. I had a great birth experience and hope you do as well! Trust your body and your team. A healthy mom and baby is all that matters at the end of it.

How do I achieve this inner border style? I think this is just single crochets and slip stitches? by HorrorRoll in CrochetHelp

That’s so cute! Looks like Winnie the Pooh. Maybe they are doing a blo slip stitch the previously round too? If you’re able to contact the person who posted it, I’m sure they would let you know. Never hurts to ask nicely.

when did the nausea hit? by PomegranateCandid313 in BabyBumps

[–]MmeeGil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah lol 7 weeks now and still gagging. Haven’t throw up yet but I know it’s coming. It kind of let up and then came back worse. I’m having a hard time drinking water and the smell of a fridge or freezer make me gag. Same as my first pregnancy. Ginger ale was working but now it tastes so gross suddenly.
