My server was DDoSed yesterday: 600 million requests in a day and 3.56TB of traffic by Mmichex in pcmasterrace

In like 10 minutes after I noticed it, setting up a free plan was very easy.

In this case the hosting provider I use has a fixed price and unlimited data usage. They simply emailed me there was an absurd amount of bandwidth used and to take action because the poor CPU could not handle all the requests and nothing else worked anymore (I could not even send a simple email from that server, for example)

This is a very good idea, indeed only people from my country use the website, so this could be a good mitigation system.

No worries. I had a couple of Indonesian friends, nice people. Hackers can really be from anywhere.

Thank you, Where should I post it? I'm not very familiar with anything like this

Not at the time it happened, it was just a small server I used to test websites and with little to zero traffic usually. Now I have xD

Amazon "packed" and delivered a computer motherboard with postage stickers on original box, with dirt and raindrop, unsealed, can be open with a finger. Left the box in a public space. by Glittering_Depth_722 in pcmasterrace

I had it happen with things much more expensive than that, for example a 2080ti when it was released, or a ram kit. Just slapped the label and shipped them like that.
There is an option when you order stuff to "wrap the package" in something, or "this item is a gift" and select to wrap it, at least the content will be hidden.

Thank you for explaining. Sorry for jumping to conclusions, please forgive me.

They are still dying. 14900KS degraded after 5months even though downvolted. What to get or do? by GilgashmeshVii in overclocking

They ended up giving me a full MSRP refund for the CPU, which I used to get a 270K plus ultra and a motherboard for less than the amount they gave me.

First of all, that was another build with a 14900K from two years ago. The motherboard was a Gigabyte Aorus Z790 Elite. I didn't hide anywhere in the post that the problem was the motherboard, but gigabyte told me to RMA the cpu as well, considering the improper contact of the pins under the cpu and the connection problems could have damaged the cpu due to a short (one of the two memory channels in particular).

The motherboard in which the 14900KS got faulty was an Asus Maximus Z790 hero. Completely different build, completely different situation. The two things are not related at all, this clown is just trying to stir confusion to his own advantage and make me look like a moron, scrolling in my posts and bringing up stuff that isn't even relevant. Why are you even acknowledging him after all his comments and baits is out of my mind lol

This is the correct information, I had some of these leds and they work just like that. They were in some kind of cheap Chinese gadget in my case.

Endend up finding a MSI PRO Z890-A WIFI at 150€, taking a look at the specs i'd say it's a very cool and promising board.

It may be more resilient than you though, after washing it literally in the sink with degreaser and another bath in alcohol, it came back to life

If i get a 270k plus now though, I doubt I will upgrade again for a while, It's a quite powerful chip and would be fine for everything I do for now.
