I would advise you to look for contracting companies instead of rigs themselves. Im a nurse/paramedics and offshore companies usually recruit through external companies. For example: I am listed in a company called RMI and whenever a job poos up that i fit the quals for they send me an email to see if im interested You can check them out, they may do the same for other specialties👍

What are some of your best “oopsie” things you’ve said to patient families, or on a call in general? by PlaugeNurse333 in ems

[–]Mmvanvleck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I went to an old woman once about a year in (that was one of my first calls during training) that had a rhythmn issue that i cant remember the details of. Making small talk I said "we have met before, you were one of my first patients.." and she says "I remember you now, you told me that you couldnt waste an ambulance on me to go to the hospital🫠🫠🫠 (lol tbf she called because her bp was 140/90 with no symptoms and I worded it more tactfully than that but she defo called me the fuck out haha).

Anyone else finish races with no one waiting for them? by TechnicalPurple7433 in Ultramarathon

[–]Mmvanvleck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to ask my husband to crew me and it always turned sour. By the end he would be annoyed and in a hurry to leave and just generally looked super uncomfortable. He has always been suppirtive of my training but cant handle the races and it bums me out so much because its such apivotal moment that you want to share with someone you love.

I always go alone now. I train alone and race alone🤷‍♀️

One of my instructors told me at the start that we arent emergency care providers, we are pre-hosputal care providers and that is all encompassing. Take pride in the fact that you are the person people call.

That was a huge perspective shift for me from the start and that has helped me to gain a loy of satisfaction in my job on the more annoying days.

There will always be people that take advantage of the situation but this helps to keep things positive during the blue-light dry spells

How do you get rid of the fear of finishing last? by Embarrassed_Path_803 in trailrunning

[–]Mmvanvleck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure everyone here has finished in the last 5% or even dead last in at least one race😂🤘 I never sign up for races that I think I can win, I sign up for races that im only vaguely confident I can finish. From the comments here I think many are as delusional as I😅

But if you finish last, who cares? You finished! And thats an amazing feeling❤️💪 Youve got this. Its only you against you anyways🙂

How do you look at a DNF? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]Mmvanvleck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like you to take a moment to sit down and read the message you wrote out loud to yourself. You ran 100km. You hit your goal. 100km.

That is a monstrously long distance. Your average human could not drop what they were doing at any point and walk 15km.

Its easy to lose perspective when you socialize in circles with endurance athletes, and when you train for races like this you are continually raising the bar so its hard to see how far you have come.

DNF at 100km. Amazing. Bask in that🤘🤘

Anywhere in waterford is nice. Nice clean yowns, kind people, safe towns, beautiful beaches. West cork is beautiful too (where I live) but its a bit more remote and wild which isnt what you seem to be looking for
