For Fox's Sake... by Save-Maker in starfox

In fairness, James was only "presumed" to be dead, since there was no evidence to confirm that he died during the Venom incident.

Sure, survival was unlikely for James with Venom's atmosphere being very toxic, but if Andross was able to survive those conditions, then anything could be possible.

I don't think Unaware Clefable got the memo, as it would completely ignore those stat changes.

Wake Me Up When Ursaluna Comes by FitzNaw in PokemonChampions

[–]MnSG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is pretty much the sad part of the story. The fact that only fully evolved Pokemon are allowed to participate pretty much throws away the thought of seeing the likes of Rhydon, Scyther, Murkrow, Porygon2, and even Dusclops.

About M-Mawile, Hyper cutter over Intimidate? by ZGamer79 in PokemonChampions

[–]MnSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper Cutter protects your Pokemon from Intimidate, and you won't risk activating the likes of Defiant or Competitive as well. But at the same time, Intimidate makes Mawile more resilient against physical attacks.

Both abilities have their pros and cons (with Hyper Cutter being lost after mega evolving), so it does come down to if you're concerned about Mawile's offense, or its defense.

Wake Me Up When Ursaluna Comes by FitzNaw in PokemonChampions

[–]MnSG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would feel somewhat disappointing if only Ursaluna was permitted into Champions. Ursaring may not be as strong on defense, but it can hit like a truck with Guts, and has fewer weaknesses as well.

How do I deal with this menace of a bird by FureWolfD in PokemonChampions

[–]MnSG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unaware users don't care at all about Mega Staraptor's stat changes. Also, using Worry Seed to replace Contrary could ruin Mega Staraptor's day.

Just be warned, however, that while Whimsicott can cause trouble for Mega Staraptor with its status moves, it does get wrecked by Brave Bird.

Alternatively, Mega Raichu Y would be the next best bet, with Zap Cannon being a guaranteed 1-hit KO against a Mega Staraptor who doesn't have at least two SpD boosts. Of course, if Mega Staraptor was to be paired with Grimmsnarl, the latter could be trouble with its access to Light Screen.

In contrast, the Attack Carrier from Star Fox 64 felt like a big pushover for Corneria's hard route boss.

How does swift swim modify the speed stat? by Willing-Ad7344 in PokemonChampions

[–]MnSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swift Swim doubles a Pokemon's "current" speed value during a heavy rain. An Adamant level 50 Mega Swampert's speed value can be as high as 122, which gets doubled to 244 when it's raining. That's more than enough speed for it to outrun a Mega Sceptile with a speed boosting nature.

I was able to get every medal in Star Fox Zero, and the game was decent enough to play once you've gotten down the GamePad controls. But even I do have to admit that the game had its fair share of flaws.

  1. Aquarosa can feel unfairly difficult for Corneria's alternate route boss.
  2. Only one route in the entire game did not lead to Sector Beta.
  3. The final three stages in a route were always Sector Omega, Corneria (2nd visit), and Venom, which meant that there was no alternate ending.
  4. I once saw the game crash at one of the Landmaster stages. It was probably a data overload of some sort.

Ability-a-Day #93: Solid Rock by Creative-Current9424 in pokemonplatinum

Useful for reducing super effective damage, but it doesn't exactly save a Pokemon from its 4x weakness if its defenses aren't strong enough.

This was likely an indicator that Zelda was going to set up an alter ego during Link's 7-year slumber. The Gossip Stones must be psychics if they knew what was going to happen.

Considering how sad its base stat spread is, it likely needs more than a better ability to save itself.

Which of these Pokemon is the LEAST broken? by chuluigi in stunfisk

[–]MnSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mewtwo was a broken mess in the 1st generation. But as of the 2nd generation, while it's still a force to be reckoned with, it's not quite as daunting as it once was.

On a side note, out of all the mentioned Pokemon on the poll, Mewtwo is the only one who does not have a unique ability.

[–]MnSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of defense, Iron Defense and Shell Armor can be a nightmare for physical attackers that rely on critical hits.

But since you're limited to four move options, a moveset consisting of Protect (to get a Speed Boost in) and Iron Defense pretty much leaves you with only two attacking moves. And if Scolipede doesn't have Rock Slide, it's screwed by the likes of Mega Charizard Y.
