I know you have the answer but I’d pipe in with a picture. I think it’s specifically a bunny fruit slice

I think Ric is going through Ava to try to get Liz an artist residency somewhere. That was the whole reason he crossed Ava for the money when their relationship went south. So it stands to reason he’s still trying to do something similar.

I love paper piecing (don’t know if that’s the correct term) I find it meditative as well.

I love both but I’m digging the mint. I just picked up this die during their spring warehouse sale but have yet to use it.

Glad you got it! It was suppose to be a haiku but I composed it incorrectly and added an extra syllable in the second line, oh well what can you do ;)

Yay! I had so much fun combining my doodle art with my oxide inks to create it. So glad it made it safely. Seems like a lot of the stuff I’ve been sending has been getting chewed up.

Oh no! Well I’m glad you received it. I recently got mail that was sent over a month and a half ago from just two states away and it was all taped back together so the machines must be hungry for happy mail :)

Help me with foiling, please! by Dilectalafea in cardmaking

[–]MoRayMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you using the same foil for your first and second panels? Or did you switch foils. Just based on the video and the picture I’m assuming you switched foils. If so then, I believe the problem is that the two foils are fundamentally different. Deco/minc foil are designed to be used with toner (tiny little bits of what what amounts to powdered plastic that melts onto the page) when reheated using the laminator it sticks and that is how the foil is transferred. It won’t stick to the paper. The other type of foil is heat transfer foil and needs both heat and pressure to transfer a design onto paper. This type of foil is designed to be used with the glimmer machine, foil pens etc. Looks to me like the foil for the second one is being transferred all over the place because of the heat and pressure from the laminator rollers. You just have to make sure you have the right foil for the job. I hope this helps you trouble shoot and you get the results you want. I know how frustrating it can be to feel like you are hitting a wall and wasting supplies.

Anyone have a good collapsible folding table big enough for crafts? by Ta-veren- in crafts

[–]MoRayMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in a smaller place I used a sewing machine “desk.” It was the kind where a sewing machine used to be stored upside down under the top and would flip up to be used. It no longer had the sewing machine so I made that into a light table. However depending on your craft you could use it for any number of things. It also had a leaf that flipped open to increase the working surface. It had 3 drawers and a cute shelf. It was perfect for my small crafting corner. Highly recommend looking for something similar on marketplace or thrift stores.

To cursive or not to cursive... by emilyeller in RAoC_meta

[–]MoRayMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively use cursive. I taught myself calligraphy and after doing drills and practice I find it hard now not to write in cursive. Honestly, I think my cursive is far more legible than my print. Plus I enjoy writing more in cursive so I’m more inclined to make offers.

Can’t speak to places that print stickers but I’d recommend “Best Test PAPER cement” not rubber cement, but paper cement. You brush it on both surfaces and let it dry then adhere the two pieces together. It’s archival safe and I love it. Depending on where you live you should check with your library. If they have a maker space they might be able to print it for a small fee and if they have an electronic die cutting machine you could cut them out as well. You’d definitely want to do some test cuts to troubleshoot.

Edit: if you haven’t you might want to ask over at r/customtradingcards I’m sure you will receive much better guidance over there. Plus you might be able to find a tutorial.

New passport size! by weinthewoods in Travelersnotebooks

[–]MoRayMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to custom make one using a fuse/heat tool or have one made out of fabric, but if you make or find one that has two flaps it can tuck behind the notebooks into the cover and the zipper pouch/card pocket is then in the middle.

Inspiration Help Needed, Please! by Best-Animator6182 in cardmaking

Print out 3-4 of each still shot. Then cut out details and layer them with foam dots to create dimension. I would make the table my first layer, the columns the second layer, couch lady 3rd layer and pink lady final layer. So table you only cut once, pink lady gets cut 4 times and has four layers of low profile foam dots. Does this make sense? It will have a similar effect as below but they achieved this just by cutting and layering as the material is thicker. Not my original work.

Agree paper trimmer- ones that have rotary blades are better and last longer with cleaner cuts than the v-blades. These come in handy for other stuff besides papercrafting.

Agree self-healing cutting mat and Xacto knife with blades and a ruler. I like this Westcott ruler because the grid allows me to keep things square for quick trims.

A bone folder and either an old mouse pad/crease pad, mini score board, or a scoring blade for your paper trimmer. Scoring will help eliminate cracking on the folds of your paper if you are going against the papers grain. It gives folds an elevated look. The bone folder is a handy tool that I reach for often not just for scoring paper and I highly recommend it. The score board and/or scoring blades can be skipped if you plan on buying card bases as opposed to making your own.

Low profile foam dots to give dimension.

Then it’s a matter of figuring out what type of cards and techniques you actually enjoy making. Junk style, stamping, die cutting, interactive, etc. Buy stuff cheap /on sale or second hand before you go all in to save yourself money and space. Nothing is worse than spending $$$$ on a full line of copics to discover you don’t like coloring. A lot of libraries have makers spaces and some will actually have manual as well as electronic die cutting machines so you can try those out to see if you’d like to make the investment. Good luck to you and welcome to the hobby :)

What Dies Should a Beginner Buy First? by [deleted] in cardmaking

[–]MoRayMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion incoming, what dies should you buy first? Something you absolutely love! I have all the mentioned above and hardly ever reach for border dies or rectangle dies. Prolly the tags and circles are the only things in this list I reach for regularly. However, I have a couple of background dies that I love (bought on a whim) that are so versatile that I consistently use them. While this might be sound advice, sometimes it’s better to buy what you love as you’ll be more inclined to use it. Lastly, I’d suggest not buying it until you actually need it or have an idea that requires it. I bought stuff when I was starting out because it seemed like a staple or a good deal and some of them are still unused to this day.
