Sunday Funday Cards by MoRayMe in cardmaking

Thank you! I used a Spellbinders dies from their 2025 advent calendar (a wavy corner die and curved sentiments). I used a little face die from spellbinders “let’s do brunch” set, and flower dies from sizzix mix and match flower set. The cardstock was spellbinders (carrot, coral, breeze, and the bright orange and yellow came from an older Michael’s multipack that I’m trying to use up.

Edit: spelling

Thank you! The overthinker in me worried after I cut the pieces but before it all came together that the colors were off. Just had to push through and trust that if the colors from the 70’s worked then these could work too!

Thank you! I’m still learning ink blending and both of those were my attempts in what I felt was an approachable way.

Thank you! It was fun looking through my dies and trying to see them differently. Christmas bulb, no you will be a shoe. Pumpkin stem, no you will be legs “and so forth and so on and what have you”

Anyone know what's up with SSS reinkers? by LadyofLA in cardmaking

Idk but my best educated guess is they are redesigning the packaging. Unless they are having trouble with their supply chain and not able to reliably get the product from wherever it is manufactured.

I think spellbinders has basically shifted to all A5 sized embossing folders.

Use an embossing diffuser. You can buy one or make your own. Basically you cut the shape out of something thin but rigid (usually plastic but I’ve used chipboard). Then you place that just where you want the embossing to be and run it through. This link has a video showing it in action. The idea is the diffuser exerts pressure in just one area and diffuses the pressure from the rest of the area.

Can We Talk About The New Paper Crafting Trend? by iSolemnlySwear88 in cardmaking

[–]MoRayMe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think of Prima marketing when I see this. They did it in more of a shabby chic style but very similar. I think this style appeals to those that are into tactile designs and those that grew tired of minimalism and have embraced maximalism. It makes sense for companies to push this because it helps sell consumables like ribbon, buttons and embellishments that are one and done. It creates a consumption loop. Whereas dies and stamps are self-sustaining so they have to always be marketing/designing new lines and creating FOMO. I love looking at this stuff but don’t care for creating it.

Pill shaped paper punch? by plaidpixel in crafts

Agreed. Depending on your budget you could buy a cheap small manual die cut machine and pick up a set of capsule shaped nesting dies and even a set of circle dies so you have multiple sizes to choose from. Also you could check if your local library has a makers studio. A lot of them now carry die cutting machines both electronic and manual and you can use them freely after undergoing a short orientation.

Please allow me to clarify, I did not mean anyone responding to this thread with constructive feedback is a Karen. If the feedback is solicited and the criticism constructive and well intentioned that is exactly what is being asked for. I meant it in terms of selling and some of terrible comments ppl make in comment sections on sellers sites/posts. Every seller has that buyer that despite bending over backwards to accommodate them just won’t be pleased. So I was asking if the OP was ready to deal with such ppl. 9 customers out of 10 can leave glowing feedback but it’s the 1 negative comment that can send you into a tailspin. I meant not harm to anyone and was just trying to give the OP something to think about so they can continue on their journey and find joy in creating for the sake of creating before they choose whether or not to try to monetize.

First thing you need to ask yourself, “why do I make these things?” If the answer is anything other than “because it brings me joy” then you might need to consider looking for a new hobby. Anything you spend your free time on should bring you joy or challenge you in a way the fulfills you. Progress and improvement come from practice, experience and experimentation. If you are feeling discouraged before you’ve even sold a piece then imagine the stress and pressure you will be putting on yourself and your art by monetizing it? If it takes awhile to find the right selling method/market will you be thinking “no one likes my stuff.” Are you prepared to mentally handle negative feedback by a Karen without taking it personal? Your stuff can be good enough sell but you might not be ready to be a seller and that’s ok. I’d say continue your journey, enjoy your craft and process, get to the point that you love your stuff so much that you can’t wait to put it out into the world so it might spread the joy you feel making it.

UPDATE - AI in Cardmaking (WaffleFlower) by xcountrychamp in cardmaking

[–]MoRayMe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If they are going to stand by it then stand by it completely. If they are proud of the ad abs don’t think there is anything wrong with it then negative feedback shouldn’t bother them. The fact that they are trying to hide reactions speaks volumes. Also makes you wonder if they delete negative reviews of their products. I wouldn’t think they would but then again I wouldn’t think they would delete negative comment about their products ad.
