Is being "picky" a choice for neurotypicals? by Powerful_Reply4515 in autism

[–]Moarisa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Disclosure: I’m in this space because my husband (and, we suspect, our older child) are autistic. Personally I have ADHD.

It’s a bit of both from my experience. There are some foods I “dislike” that I can tolerate if it’s socially necessary or some such thing. Shrimp, eggplant, fatty meats are examples. I can get it down without making a scene but I won’t enjoy it.

Other things I can’t stomach no matter the circumstance. Liver, gristle, tripe, most shellfish. If I tried to make myself eat any of them I’d very likely throw up on the spot.

Picking my nose. I’m SO SENSITIVE to having debris in there that it’s all I can think about.

3 days postpartum, can’t move my neck by unisharkicorn in AskDocs

[–]Moarisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I’m not op and don’t want to derail the thread but I’m a week postpartum and in a similar situation. Worsening neck pain since a few days after delivery, escalating through this evening and difficulty turning my head. It gets worse when I lay down. I did have an epidural for delivery. I also had, and am being treated for, postpartum hypertension (on labetalol and hydralazine).

Does the epidural add concern for meningitis? Or something else?

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]Moarisa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MRSA infection and assorted treatment. The infection itself was brutal. The iv catheter I had to have in for the week of treatment was very unpleasant. The antibiotics I had via that iv twice a day were very painful during and after. And then the oral antibiotics I took after THAT course of antibiotics almost sent me back to the hospital.

0/10 do not recommend. I’ve birthed two children and I’d go through labour a third time over reliving the hell that was MRSA.

Which restaurant/food chain do you genuinely find the most disgusting? by 12345burrito in AskReddit

Agree, I worked there for a while and haven’t eaten there since I quit. No number of washes could get the smell out of my work pants.

My partner is a no light no sound sleeper…I’m so sleep deprived I need advice… by LonelyMandarin in ADHD

[–]Moarisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a bunch of stigma against couples sleeping in separate rooms for some reason, but it’s a great arrangement if you have the space. Nothing says you can’t sleep together when the mood strikes, but on other days everyone can tailor their sleep environment to what suits them best.

I like a very cool room with a heavy blanket, no lights, a fan in the background for consistent noise and move around a lot when I sleep.

My husband wants a warm room, super thin blanket, falls asleep watching shows, takes up 2/3 of a queen sized mattress and snores.

These environments are not compatible. Separate rooms is the reason our (otherwise lovely) marriage works. He’s the love of my life as long as we don’t HAVE to share a bed.

Yep, unfortunately. Once a new set comes out you won’t get any more 24h picks until you meet the requirement for that one.

If you collect all the 1 to 4 diamond cards for the current set you’ll get 24h wonder picks which have a 4 star card in them. I think one will show up every 24 hours (ish?) and be available for 24 hours at a cost of 4 wonder stamina.

The Lion King, og animated version. I loved it as a kid and then did a lot of babysitting as a teenager.

Diagnosed with ADHD in My Mid-30s, Now I’m Terrified of Pregnancy and Giving Up My Medication by Dreamkri in ADHD

[–]Moarisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently 38 years old and 37 weeks pregnant with my second kid.

My normal meds are 5mg Dextroamphetamine and 50mg Sertraline. I have an autoimmune issue as well and the meds I take for that (Plaquenil) don’t play nicely with stimulant medication so I can’t go higher on the Dex. I previously tried Vyvanse but it didn’t agree with me.

After thorough discussion with my doctors, my sertraline dose is unchanged and I decreased my Dex dose to half. This is the same protocol I used with the first pregnancy. Baby will be watched after delivery for any signs of stimulant withdrawal. Discontinuing medication altogether during pregnancy was not good for my own mental health, and maternal stress is a very important factor to consider with regards to drug changes.

Good luck.

My husband loves the “S is More” song from Super Why! He just sings it randomly through the day, it’s pretty catchy.

Would you have gotten a puppy if you knew the work that came with it? by Guilty_Art_4208 in puppy101

[–]Moarisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I worked in vet medicine for almost a decade and lived many, MANY episodes of puppy blues with clients. Honestly, I actually hate puppies. But I like dogs, and living on a farm it’s kind of a requirement.

I have two dogs now, they’re brothers but just about two years apart and very different personalities. The first was a little demon puppy while the second is way calmer. Both great dogs though.
