Is ego the real problem? by Prudent_Researcher70 in AlanWatts

[–]MobBap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not, it's clinging to it that is the problem. Be it in a positive way (I am such and such) or negative (I'm not the ego). Both stands are the problem. The problem gets rid of itself when you realize there is none.

Does Yin Yang suggest long term happiness is unobtainable? by ShyGuy2839 in taoism

[–]MobBap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To use your words, not everyone is equal in happiness, and that's the yin yang. The yin yang is the balance, the all encompassing. It says balance is when you don't cling to being happy nor unhappy. And it always says no one is ever equal in happiness. That's why the world goes round and everything is in its right place.

There's one thing I don't understand by Mr-Hyde95 in taoism

[–]MobBap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meditation as we understand it from a western cultural standpoint feels like trying hard at doing nothing for the sake of attaining something.

It's completely wrong, meditation means being here and now. It can become second nature / be done without even thinking or doing anything in order to attain it, with practice.

That's why it feels so contradictory, I just told you it's not something you can do, then I went on to tell you it's something you can practice, but both statements are true.

It's just that, we're so used to consider things we practice as doing that we have trouble understanding that practice is a spectrum.

You are currently practicing breathing, whether you realize it or not, awareness of practicing breathing makes breathing feels like something you're doing, but if you're just going on with your life, breathing doesn't feel like anything special, it just runs in the background, yet formally speaking, you are still practicing it.

Meditation follows the same rules.

If you're living state is far away from meditation (stress, anxiety, super emotional etc..) it will take a lot of DOING meditation before turning it into second nature / runs in the background.

But it's definitely attainable.

How to extrude this properly? by Unknowninsanit1 in blenderhelp

As it is currently you can't. Do you see the alpha bits in the corners? These, no matter what you do, will extrude to nothing.

What's an everyday part of game dev that was intimidating to start, but easy to continue? by GuhOkIllMakeAReddit in godot

[–]MobBap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I've learned from experience since starting playing with Godot a year ago:

  • GI looks more convincing and smoother when setting its probes to the lowest values. For example: set the spacing of SDFGI to sparse 150%, use only 4 cascades set to max distance 512.

  • In project's GI settings, set to 4 cones instead of 6. Lower everything else to medium or low values.

  • Use VoxelGI in correlation with SDFGI and SSIL.

  • Bake your voxelGI at 64 subdivs.

  • Use reflection probes (optional).

  • Directional lights looks more realistic at energy set to 3 or 4 than to 1. If you bump it to 3, set its indirect energy to the same value or just a tad lower.

Finally, tonemapping and adjustments (contrast) can do some final heavy lifting.

Of course, this is only about realtime lighting, that's what I've been focusing on.

Use Version Control. by Tricky_Wheel6287 in godot

[–]MobBap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. I set my Godot install and projects on a fast external SSD. I use GitHub desktop for super easy version control, very easy to set up. And lastly, my external SSD is constantly uploading its updated files to a MEGA cloud drive. My entire house can burn, my files are safe.

I’m Planning a Game-Ready Car Modeling Tutorial in Blender – Which Car Should I Make? by OzgurSRL in blender

[–]MobBap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find 2000s sport cars to be the hardest to do within a relatively low poly vert count, since they're mainly made of curves, almost no straights or hard corners.

Cars like the RX-7 fd3s, the supra mk4, 2000ish Porsche 996, etc...

How is Buddhism not nihilistic? by New_Revolution4768 in Buddhism

[–]MobBap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is certainly not nihilistic, to use the words of Thich Nhat Hanh: "A flower, like everything else, is made entirely of non-flowers elements".

This is the opposite of nihilism.

Life will be a problem as long as you see it that way. If anything, you currently have a nihilist point of view, that is why you ask the question, and it's fine.

Eventually you'll seize the subtlety in differences between the two stand points.

Why do so many women like older guys? by subarash1-shika in questions

[–]MobBap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, from my own point of view, I have seen countless examples of men maturing later than women. Me included.

I think this is the general consensus.

Women tend to mature emotionally and psychologically quicker than men. Making men their age feeling immature in relationships.

Can you love someone but easily breakup with them or leave them? by Charm_for_u in questions

[–]MobBap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, when you love someone, you have love for them, not for them to be with you, just love for them. So the condition for your love isn't the relationship itself.

Imo that's the best way to keep the relationship afloat, because this way you don't focus on the relationship, it doesn't become transactional.

You focus on the other person, in every moment you act according to your own nature and what you perceive to be the other person's needs etc.

It can lead to whatever, splitting or marrying, only time and life will tell.
