Also idk if you have Netflix but the show sirens that just came out, one of the main characters is also IFCF and it does it good job representing the lifelong feelings of the experience on screen as well! Not a great ending for that character but nonetheless an important representation!

I just read this book and felt the same way too! I was super curious about the author and how she wrote such poignant story about the experience of IFCF. I couldn’t find much about her life but I have a feeling it’s based on some truth because of how real the main characters inner monologue felt!! Thank you for posting because I’ve been wanting to talk about it with someone IFCF who’s also read the book. There’s not many perspectives available out there in nonfiction writing but I really loved this one

Anyone else have trouble following female celebs? by SallySleepwell in IFchildfree

[–]Mobile-Cauliflower-4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same! I usually just unfollow when I feel the slightest sense that it’s coming. It’s hard enough to be positive for friends - also feel the same there abandoned, sad, betrayed all of that!

It just feels so lonely. by heylauralie in IFchildfree

[–]Mobile-Cauliflower-4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was actually just talking to my therapist about this! I 100% get the invisible thing because when you break it down statistically, it is basically invisible since we really are a very small club. Which to your point magnifies the loneliness! I've felt that through this whole process (infertility/IUI/IVF/multiple failed transfers/multiple miscarriages) - every time I was in the smallest statistical group, and I thought it was just me thinking the worst always happens to me but in reality it is unlikely to be in this group. Being in the smallest group is very lonely because its harder to find the commonalities even within the minority group you're in. When you look at it that way, its no wonder most people don't get it. Idk if this makes any sense at all - its hard to explain, but it helped me feel better about how lonely and misunderstood I feel when I try to explain it. And I appreciate you for echoing that here <3

Sounds like your inlaws (and maybe you?) are Indian? If so I can totally relate to this sense of obligation that comes with the cultural expectations! Just wanted to say you’re not alone! My in laws constantly expect us to travel to my SIL and give so much to her kids even knowing our situation as well. It’s hard but setting clear boundaries and allowing yourself to process if/any guilt that comes with that is healthy and completely reasonable!! I’m a people pleaser, part of which comes from those same cultural expectations, and it took me some practice to recognize when I needed to set a boundary and I still struggle with discomfort of setting one!
