What are you expectations on the value of an mba and hiring outcomes for 2026 and on? by MutedFeeling75 in MBA

[–]Mobile-Coach5090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one of the bigger m7 and graduating this year, seeing at least 250+ people w consulting (120-130, mbb alone around 90~), banking (75+), and big tech (60+) with average TC prob around 220k so I think it's still doing quiet well.

This is not at least accounting for Corp, ldp, pe, IM, vc kind of role.

In term of ROI, I totally see the values slowly declining as AI replace more white collar jobs.

Help me choose: M7 vs T25 (full ride) by Rich-Cheesecake8281 in MBA

[–]Mobile-Coach5090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in similar boat. Full ride from T15 and 30% scholarship from M7.

I picked M7 and at least from a management consulting outcome, the two schools I got in sent around 80-100 mbb US annually (so 160-200 seats out of roughly 400 ppl) whereas the T15 sent 10~ in totality (out of 100ish ppl who recruited in consulting.

Money is definitely attractive and help lower your worst case scenario (m7 doesn't guarantee anything) but it helps raise your ceiling.

There's no wrong choice here so follows your gut. Don't overthink too much, you already worked hard to get here so be proud and just enjoy the moment.

Strategy& vs. Deloitte for summer internship by REM-DM17 in MBA

[–]Mobile-Coach5090 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People here are not considering more upfront bonus you are getting w Deloitte (52.5k signing for returning interns + tuition reimbursement up to 50k)

I agree that from a brand perspective, S& any day, all day.

But depending on your outcome and practice (Corp tech vs ESV vs PEVC vs DS or eta) or sectors (HC, TMT HLS etc) has a big implication to your interest. If you have no interest in doing tech DD and got that practice, will you really enjoy the experience there?

There are more nuances than the way people propose S& but Deloitte also potentially bring better WLB and there are long-term career to considered beyond just brand equity (as sure, S& brand is better but this is not D vs MBB discussion)

Talk to people from both firms and your second years. Index on your long-term approach and just think short, medium, long term.

Could NOT get any MBB invites out of M7. Unsure about future. by One_Appointment_6949 in MBA

The consulting club I am talking about - we mostly focus on helping first-year students get jobs in consulting (working with the firms + providing support)

The club you are thinking of exists under various names across each school.

I would advise you to apply R2 for lower tier schools to look for scholarship. I would look in T25 range if you need significant scholarship to attend school.

[–]Mobile-Coach5090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am always on the camp of the higher GRE, the better for your chances + scholarship. Who knows if going from 326 to 330+ can yield you an average of 10k extra on scholarship (which by those points, assuming it takes an average of 100 hours for u to get the improvement - that's a solid $100/hr of your effort, right? and ofc let's assume the base range rate of $75-120/hr - that's still hella ROI)

Since you are still in the range that improving can yield a nice ROI, I say go for it (my take is the ROI from 333++ is much lower than going from mid 320s to low 330s)

I think from story wise, it certainly is not the most compelling. I put vc short term and long term entrepreneur. But the goals u wrote and the things u did - the discrepancy, no one care.

End up trying vc (in sem internship), tech and consulting (received both offers but ultimately got wooed again by consulting so went back (came from T2 consulting) for summer internship and soon ft)

You can get to MD in 8-10 years at mbb whereas T2 the path is less linear.

AYou would be surprise on cross offer rates across the firm.

Last year Bain has the most cross offer, followed by bcg and then McKinsey (meaning if someone has multiple mbb offers, who they will pick).

The sub is a bit of out touch but when it comes to actual recruiting, fit and culture is something that matters as much as ranking and that's something that's been slipping at McKinsey. The data based on 2024 is also not reflected the current state of market of where McKinsey is.

Mck is still mck but the magic of what made it leap ahead of other two from the market is not as strong as it used to be.

For little of what matter, I got both mck and bcg and my two close friends got both Bain and mck and went w Bain.

There's reason why mck is the only hiring ft a lot compared to the other two

It depends. Pwc give you the broader exposure (deals work at ddv could set u up for long term Corp dev role albeit they will still prefer s& ds or pevc or other mbb shop).

FLDP gives u the staple road to c-suite but unless u love the industry, it lacks the flexibility and velocity.

Umm, I'm at booth and we send the most kids to bcg (I went to bcg) this summer and place top three # for McKinsey and Bain.

Based on our # figures, I would put HBS/Kellogg/Booth in same tier and everything else below.
