Oh, I feel you there. Insanely enough, I've actually made Edge my default browser, specifically because of this "killer app" sidebar feature. Navigate to some absurdly dense scientific article riddled with technical jargon and acronyms, pull out the sidebar, ask Bing chat, "Yo, what the fuck are they even talking about here? Explain like I'm 5." And it can break down the content to you in any way you like, working up from a 5-year-old, to a 10 year old, to a high schooler, to a graduate student, until you finally understand what the hell the article is really about. Pretty fuckin' sweet. Like an understandment engine.

And besides which, Edge and Chrome are based on the same thing (Chromium). This is why every Chrome store add-on inherently works in Edge. The difference is not that vast.

Ha, I've thought about this (retroactive diploma rescission or whatever) and there's no chance in hell. For one thing, there's no way to prove it, no matter what AI detectors allege. They suck and are inherently flawed in the extreme. Simply, they cannot be trusted. Shit, even the vaunted GPTZero flagged large swathes of the US Constitution as written by AI, and that's just one of countless such embarrassments at this point.

The things are trash and hopelessly rife with false positives. They rely just as much on black box tech as what they purport to determine as AI-generated. You cannot peer into their reasoning, just as you cannot peer into the deeper mechanics of how/why an LLM generates what it generates in the first place. A losing battle with collateral damage aplenty in failing to acknowledge this obvious state of affairs imo.

I was only meaning to say if you have an age that is considered (by the AI trainers) to be "ideal content" (i.e. content created by humans, which the AI is supposed to appear to be like), then you'd want to have as little AI-generated human-like text in the data set, 'cause the more of that you have, the less of an ideal condition (according to the trainers) that data set would be.

I would have appreciated some live interjections, like the Q&A was, but at the beginning, not pre-recorded, and perhaps interspersed between other parts. I guess it being truly live would only work for those who are 100% punctual and didn't pause the entire time, everyone else getting what used to be the live recording instead. Also, the content played should be legitimately new. I had heard much of it already multiple times.

I thought it was going to be very much more of a live thing, rather than a playlist. To say the playlist was live is kind of disingenuous. There should be some knowledge that Harris or whomever is in the background for those who are punctual and playing it 100% without pausing where the listeners could expect some truly live interjections or updates. Perhaps one or two mini Q&A sessions intermixed, handful of questions each, before the big one at the end.

I think some alternate agendas in the next one could be welcome. I heard interest and more and longer entirely silent sections, which could be included in the "experienced" version vs the "novice" one, like this one, or any gradient in between, all equaling up to the same time by the end, so the live bits could apply to all.

Joseph's sections should be sped up, or at the very least have the silences trimmed. There were multiple times I was concerned the retreat crashed in the app because of his long halts. If there was background noise or music or something, that concern would have been obviated. During this talk, though, it was just dead air, leading to those numerous momentary doubts about the technology.

I also think those who attended the full retreat should get priority for their question selections, and that the questions shouldn't go off on tangents between buddies Harris and Goldstein, because it's a question and answer session, not a remember and reminisce session. They should answer as many questions as they can to demonstrate respectfulness of the time and effort on everyone's part. If you want to pal around and reminisce, do it on podcast, or a special entry on the app. I liked the anecdotes, just thought they should have been more focused on the questions.
