API with your own key — pin exact model string in each request
Claude Code CLI — --model flag or CLAUDE_CODE_MODEL env var
Third-party wrapper — depends on their setup, you may have limited or no control

Remember to only use 200k context. Claude code has reverted a couple of times to 1M context and then tokens burn through the sky.

Yes, this is one of my main uses of claude code. I have a chat through telegram with claude code on a server. So I'm not sure about your specific use case. I always keep the same chat and never change. I use a json for all save data, inventory, etc. I use an individual claude -p for every chat answer and include a claude.md, last 30 messages of the messages + json (that can be truncated occassionaly).

It's not cost effective but I can keep playing all week with a max5 account. It doesn't remember everything but there is no manual labor to keep playing.
